    Another kit list thread!

You know, you can change the brightness level on them …

    Another kit list thread!

This is exactly what I pack, except (a) instead of shorts I have 3/4 length leggings; (b) instead of the trousers I have a macabi skirt (which can become pants - kind of - or shorts) and (c) instead of an “evening shirt,” I have a very light swing dress that I also sleep in. Works well to throw...

    And now to the backpack..

I have a Traverse and I really love it. I had originally bought the Gregory Jade online and went into REI to have them help me with the fit. I couldn’t get it right so tried on the Traverse 32L (they don’t make a 35L any longer) and it was like night and day; I felt absolutely no weight on me...

    And now to the backpack..

Since you can bring two bags, why not make the second a light duffle and split your gear between the two? With your backpack less full it should meet the restrictions.

    Compostela: Electric Bikes Excluded?

If you are saying that the rider should not, I think you are saying that you don’t ride horses much. It takes a lot of strength and stamina to ride that distance, sometimes up and down steep hills, on a horse.

I made an app to share Camino tips in real-time, Waze-style

Sadly, this would be confusing with a tour company but I immediately thought of “Camino WayZ” How about “Real Time Camino?”

    Insoles causing heel slippage

I had this problem with my custom insoles in my Topos but using the heel lock lacing system kept my feet secure

    Jewish Quarters?

Yes, it was ... while not window dressing ... not a program that most decendants of Spanish Jews could take advantage of.

A romance on the Camino...and then she moves on

One does not need to be “sick” to benefit from seeing a therapist. Your attitude about when and why someone might seek a professional to help them process their feelings is what is both insulting and not helpful, both here and in general.

LIVE from the Camino Gun fire? Cannon? Fireworks??

You can also hear them on the Ingles.

US TSA and a walking stick

I would suggest that posting on an open and publicly-accessible forum that you are going to do something to "fool" TSA is not a good strategy in general. (And if you think it will never come back to haunt you, as an attorney who has hired companies to scour websites for evidence on opposing...

Best 100KM route ( max 15 km per day -7/8 days max)

Easier to break up, yes. Easier vis-a-vis elevation gains? No, I would dispute that.

Best 100KM route ( max 15 km per day -7/8 days max)

I’ve done 3 “last 100km” walks - from Sarria, from Porrino (a day less than starting at Tui and still 100km), and Ingles. I would say the Portugues was overall the easiest but the Ingles was my favorite, and most of it is very flat. Plus if you are taking more time, staying in Presidio or...

Cathedral Tours - Language Translation "Hack"

Yes, that’s the right ticket. I haven’t done the Portico of Glory tour so I’ll let others comment on that.

    Post Camiño excursion?

I just took two day trips from Santiago -- one to Lugo and one to Ourense. Both were nice places to visit with good historical centers and nice sights to see.

    Hello!

Welcome! There's a very active American Pilgrims chapter in Philly -- there are frequent walks on weekend mornings, followed by lunch and lots of Camino talk. Find us on MeetUp. There are a few walks coming up in the next month -- if you have time, sign up for one and join us!

A general "don't bring/don't pack" in your attitude kit

I walked twice with my very obviously nonbinary child and found zero open hostility toward them or us. Sure, there were a few people who might have looked at them a bit longer, either not used to seeing a nonbinary person or trying to figure out if they were either male or female, but never...

    Lost & Found Lost Shoes

Another alternative is to bring a light stuff sack for your shoes, put your shoes in the bag, and then put the bag in or lashed to your pack. That way you aren't tracking mud and dirt into the sleeping quarters but don't risk losing your shoes. (If you've stepping in animal droppings, I would...

Cathedral Tours - Language Translation "Hack"

Book online on the Cathedral website. It sells out so definitely do it early.
