Picture Fun Quest!

After @Pingüigrino posts his picture I'll tell everyone the location of my picture.
Thank you!
I do want to point out that two of my "easy ones" were guessed right away (one even by someone who didn't walk past it) while your "easy one" is still on the board...but I won't because I'm too nice.:)

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Sorry, I didn´t tell the name of the city, nor the place where this stone is, because I do´nt want to be a hated nerd in this forum :D. I´m starting to look like those bright spark on the Camino we all know and all of us avoid.o_O
I´m only trying to help others giving them some clues.
I think it´s not a good idea for me to post another picture, it could be better that other person doing it, IMHO. Maybe you, would do it again, Rick.

I think I may be more difficult than intended. I'll pass on posting the next picture. I have more fun trying to find the location of the posted pictures anyway. Maybe @Smallest_Sparrow should post. She may want revenge.;)

Our Oceania cousins have had a chance to come up with their guesses and I see nothing so, as I mentioned earlier, @Pingüigrino gets the win on this.

My picture is of the left column of the entryway to the Basilica Nuestra Senora de la Encina and the column is facing the Plaza Virgen de la Encina in Ponferrada (coordinates near: 42.544678,-6.592227). It is not far from the castle of the Templar Knights.

Come on all of you Frances people, think...it must be between SJPdP and Muxia...to me it looks like the interior of an albergue. I don't think it is one run by nuns/monks, but I suppose it could be parochial. It has yellow walls and to me it looks like a wood porch cover outside. Foncebadon (Domus Dei) had yellow walls and a porch when I walked but I don't recall that collection of crucifixes and rosaries...but I learned my memory isn't good with @Rick of Rick and Peg's picture.

off to look up my interior pictures of Domus Dei...:)

I don't think it is Domus Dei, the window doesn't match, but could it be in a bar and not in an albergue? Buen Camino, SY

Nice picture by the way...I should share with Rick, because his post made me think about other albergues in the area...but I won't. I had coffee here...nice place

the secret to IDing this lonely place is the abandoned chapel in the lower left...unless you walked this route, then you probably remember every dizzy stepcamino plus 676.webp

He pm'd but with a close though not full answer :)
if no one guesses I'll post pictures of his answer as a clue...and if no one still guesses then fine, I'll let Rick of Rick and Peg win

In fairness to everyone else, @Rick of Rick and Peg has correctly ID'ed the general location for everyone, but not the specific one. Very quickly (impressively, scary NSA quality) he knew this was near Montserrat (the pictures attached are already id'd, not part of the game)...so that makes this the Cami de Sant Jaume. He still has not correctly identified the picture I posted as part of the game, however. It should be easy from here...

Oh, is that the way to the little hermitage/capilla above Montserrat? Never took it because of vertigo ... SY
yes...I can just imagine you on it:eek:
This is a view of Sant Joan and the ruins of hermitages carved into the mountain Sant Jeroni, walking the Cami de Sant Michel and Jacob’s stairway (I'd probably have to carry you down:)). BTW, I loved the small but impressive museum at the abbey.
Back to @SYates for a new picture

I can say what it's not (pretty sure) if that helps people guess, it's not in San Miguel del Camino, El Ganso, FOncebadon or El Acebo (if my pictures are labeled correctly...big if....

So we have now, as hints:

A church in Galicia
With a (cemetery?) wall around it
That is not in O Cebreiro nor in Triacastela
On the Camino Frances (looking at your forum info)

But very close...! A little clue: The view in the photo is not quite the angle you see from the Camino itself, but from the back.

Oh if only we had a King of the Internet playing, someone with a half dozen links and 2 apps for everything:confused:
Oh wait  we do....
Oh if only he had walked the Frances ....oh wait...

Seriously this is a really good picture if you've stumped my colleagues....no credit for stumping me, I'm generally clueless.

Church of San Juan in Padornelo?
If I'm right, here's my picture. I'll PM SYates the answer because I'm about to go away for the last long weekend of the year - and without internet access.

No, good try, but yours is a lovely photo anyway. Happy Labour Weekend @Kiwi-family !

Come on, all you CF addicts, guesses so far have been really close...!

I can't think of clues that won't give it away...not a hugely popular Camino, technically where I am standing while taking the picture is not the Camino, but it is right on the road below.

Early to bed and early to rise makes one (me) drowsy at this hour.
So, while I was asleep, two puzzles have been solved. Just wanted to let you know that in my dreams I was working on the church picture. But it seems as if the church doesn't have two bay doors on the far side with red fire trucks in them after all. :(

Snooze you loose:)

It appears this ?private albergue? has red cushions near the far window ...is that close enough to your dream?

No.

Clue: it isn't an albergue and it is usually open to pilgrims

There is a house, name escapes me at the moment, in Castrojeriz that is usually open to pilgrims for a bit of quietness, calm and rest ? SY

The place in Najera with the welcome to pilgrims sign outside - run by a Christian organisation I think. It is in the same street as the church and on the way to the muni albergue (that used to have triple height bunks).

just me guessing wildly againo_O...but if neither @SYates nor @Kanga are correct, I'm going to guess Peaceable Kingdom...I can't think of any other place that would look so much like a private home, welcome pilgrims, and not be an albergue....
and if all three of us are wrong maybe we do need an exterior picture please:)

@AJ
What is the situation now - did anybody guess it? Buen Camino, SY

Nobody has guessed it, so I will post a photo of the exterior.

If you look carefully, you will see that the door is open. The Camino runs right past this door. Pilgrims are invited to enter and pray or meditate. The owner is English. When he acquired the building it was a disused barn. He lives in the lower level.

great story, and a good choice of a picture @AJ...I look forward to smarter players guessing it:)

@SY, let me know if you want me to reveal the location.
Is this Arthur's house in A Balsa (just past Triacastella)? and if so you have to tell us more...what I read was pretty amazing

Winner! And with that I found another picture and the below at
http://madillcamino2014.blogspot.com/2015/10/thursday-september-18-2014-triacastela.html

Around 8:38, we passed a hermitage. Unlike last year, it was closed this time.

The hermitage is now occupied by a watercolor artist Englishman Arthur who undertook the Camino in 2006 from St Jean Pied de Port. He chose the Samos variant, although he gave in to the charm of this area and decided to settle here in the fall of that year. With the help of a local mason, he reconstructed the ruin of an old stone house into “a house for Jesus.” Many of his paintings hang on the walls. The doors are usually wide open to pilgrims offering a place to rest and pray. If his doors are closed, Arthur is probably on a trip to the coast of Lugo.

It was the art work on the walls that kept making me think this was a private home...and when @AJ said the person lived below and kept the doors open above I thought "either this person doesn't realize there are pilgrims armed with sharpies about, or he is displaying his own work. I also knew it had to be between the last city I'd passed through when I left the Frances (Ponferrada) and when I rejoined it in Melide. I hope AJ can tell his last name, I'd like to see if I can find some of his work.
OK, if we can accept @Rick of Rick and Peg, I will start getting a new picture ready.

OK, the quality is not great, because it was, as it always was, storming when I was walking so little light available. The outside of the building really isn't much help to an ID, but I've included 3 interior ones that have some clues in them. Hopefully this won't be a pain in the, er, head.
Where am I standing, and bonus points for knowing the story behind one of the statues

Is this Santa Maria church in Rabanal?

Some new clues...the ship ex-voto near the altar hints this is from the Norte, and a very famous sailor left much of his money in his will toward the upkeep of two churches...this was one of them (though of course by now the money has already been spent)
@SYates--if no one guesses this can I change my picture?

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
This is not my picture of the outside (as it was pouring rain when I walked) but from the hotel next door's webpage photo of their outdoor seating.
Come on, Norte fans, it wasn't all great seafood and our feet in the sand...I know I wasn't the only one to go into the churches:)
(and btw for Primitivo fans @Michael Caleigh has a similar game going for the road less traveled)

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
My first thought was Naverette but I'm not seeing the solitary tree on a plaza. I think the tree is to the east of the meseta though.

Does the NSA know you are repositioning their satellites to play this game?

I agree the church on the map is wrong, and in the street view the tree in on the grade rising above not in a plaza.

Spooky that you always have an overhead view ...you're not a bored angel, are you? Can you see me umm, waving my hand right now?
