Me!Tell me, who hasn't got one of these photos? 2006, July.

Sorry for my silly assumption! We went by bus, and there I found the most refreshing fountain of water on a curve in the inevitable hill up to the point zero marker. In the town afterwards we 'found' an Italian who had gone ahead in Atapuerca!Me!I have never been to Finisterre, and (horrors!) have no interest in going.
Yesterday the twisted steeple of a chapel in Jodoigne, on market day. Both very impressive.

A path with many large black smooth slippery rocks. I'm not sure what type of rock, if anyone knows?CdN July 10, 2019. Way up high and deep in the mountains. It took me 12 hours from Deba to Markina, 12 hours!!A day of wrong turns and tears. Although, very beautiful, a day I wouldn’t want to repeat.

I don’t recall any slippery black rocks during this stage on Camino del Norte.A path with many large black smooth slippery rocks. I'm not sure what type of rock, if anyone knows?
Found the stone, it's Negro marquina marble, quarried in the Markina region of the Basque country, I'm surprised you never noticed it underfoot as even very slippery when dry weatherI don’t recall any slippery black rocks during this stage on Camino del Norte.
Was this on the descent into Deba? We certainly remember what we would call cobblestones. It was very wet when we walked into Deba and quite treacherous underfoot on these stones. We walked it very slowly!Found the stone, it's Negro marquina marble, quarried in the Markina region of the Basque country, I'm surprised you never noticed it underfoot as even very slippery when dry weather
I seem to remember there was a good few miles up and down, I was constantly slipping on themWas this on the descent into Deba? We certainly remember what we would call cobblestones. It was very wet when we walked into Deba and quite treacherous underfoot on these stones. We walked it very slowly!
Another photo of the Monasterio de Santa Maria de Sobrado. A bit overgrown in places. CdelN, June, 2018.

They don't look like the ones I came across but I'm gonna look back my photos from 2017, hahahaha, I think I'm going daft " the great stone debate"Are these the stones you are referring to? This photo was taken July 9, 2019 leaving Getaria on the way to Deba.Yes, slippery when wet.

Yes, we did and it was indeed a memorable experience. There was also a concert being held there the night we stayed with three choirs from different parts of Galicia, two adult ones and one children’s choir, it was wonderful. We also attended Vespers.Set within the leafy summer splendor this is a great photo. Thanks for sharing/posting
By chance did you stay for Vespers and overnight? March 2007 I walked there from the CF at Azura. It was a most memorable visit.
That baptismal is incredibly beautiful. Wow!!Camino Frances

Two examples of the multitude of "hidden" treasures found along the camino.

Within the Iglesia Nuestra Señora de La Calle the 12th c. baptismal font handsomely represents the towers/windows of Heavenly Jerusalem

Facing the church on the calle Mayor, aka Camino Frances, a simple 21st c. window is decorated with a folkart cutout depicting Saint James as Matamoros
Although the baptimal font and the cutout span almost 1000 years both exhibit the intense desire of their craftsmen to espress an ideal.
Thanks, you made my day ! i ll transfer it to my children who have a pair of cute and clever little hens !One of the great joys of the Camino i to observe humans , nature and the animals and all this little charming scenes! This is a place to share memories and short reflections, one photo per day, one day at a time. Some of us will not make it to Spain this year, so this is our every day Camino fix. If you have been along for the ride since 1.0, you may find you need to repeat your posts,, but that is totally fine! We will see them with new eyes.
For new contributors, please note:
One photo per day (from a camino)
Please attach the thumbnail size so that even those of us with slow connections can see them.
My photo for the day is definitely a repeat, but it is one of my all-time favorite camino sights, from the Vasco just after Segura. Someone was so kind as to construct a chicken bridge for their hens, so they can get from their coop to happy hunting grounds in a grassy paddock across the stream. This hen was screeching, obviously not so comfortable with the crossing. As soon as she made it over, she stopped yelling.

On the way out of Ferrol, I met a Dignified Man coming the other way.
(it's José Canalejas y Méndez, a former Prime Minister of Spain and Ferrol alumni)
Gosh. Ponferrada. Three images dominate for me: one, a thunderstorm over the clothesline, and the totem pole in the Albergue grounds, and of course the castle. This one did not reach me...
Gosh, this is a beautiful photo @mspath !Villafranca del Bierzo
