I am about to begin the Camino from St Jean Pied de Port on Thursday only to just get notification that all trains are now cancelled from Bayonne that day!
Due to my flight getting into Biarritz late-ish I can’t get to SJPDP until Thursday morning.
Any ideas what I can do?
Hi we arrive from NZ on 25th April in Biarritz at 2.05 pm and need to get to SJPDP is there a direct train or do we need to catch a bus to Bayonne and catch a train there? Or is there somewhere we can post for a shared ride?
Looking forward to seeing you all on the Camino!
Cheers Linda and Jimmy
my train ticket from Paris to SJPDP has an 11 minute connection time in Bayonne. Can anyone tell me if that is enough time to get off the TGV and catch the train to SJPDP?
Thanks.
Hey everyone,
I am so sorry to ask such a basic question but I feel I must be missing something.
I fly into Madrid late on May 26th and hope to travel to SJJP the next day.
It’s tricky, as I could pretty easily get to Pamplona from Madrid, but as my train would arrive arrive 1300 on 27 May...
Another boring question from a novice! I need to travel from Paris to SJPDP on April 11 and am a little confused about the best way to get there. I would prefer to catch a train rather than fly to Biarritz. As I’m already going to be in the centre of Paris, I thought it might be more efficient...
Hi everyone,
My daughter and I will arrive at Pamplona station around 1:30 pm on 4 April. We want to go to SJPP the same day.
I understand buses are not running yet and the best way is a taxi. Cost around 150 euros. Is this correct, and do I need to book?
If you are traveling the same day...
I just checked the Alsa site for the earliest travel date between Pamplona and St Jean Pied de Port this year. The buses will start on March 16th with once daily service at noon.

Hi,
Arriving 6pm by bus into Pamplona. What time do the buses run to SJPP ? Will I be able to get the pilgrim passport and stay over in Albergue in Pamplona?
Thanks
Hello! Thanks for all the advice allowing me to choose between the 3 ways to get to SJPDP from the US. I have tentatively decided on taking the train from Madrid to Pamplona, but R2Rio shows driving as the only option from Pamplona to SJPDP at the time of day that the train arrives.
Is there...
We are walking to Logrono and we fly back out of Birratz.
Can anyone help us plan our return trip back to Birratz, the fastest possible route.
We will be travelling early Sept and during the week if that helps.
This is our first time on the Camino
REVISION: I am arriving in Madrid at 0640 on May 23 for my first Camino. I reserved a seat on the train from the Atocha station to Pamplona, arriving at 1:45 in the afternoon. Anyone looking for a ride share to SJPDP that day in the afternoon, at about 2:00 pm?
I am trying to figure out specifically how to get to SJDP from Madrid airport (MAD). I have searched this forum and have gone on the renfe train site and alsa bus site to try to figure how I get from Madrid to SJDP but cannot seem to find a solution. Can someone be a true saint and give me...
I’m considering flying into Biarritz or Bilbao from the USA and taking Express Burricot from the airport to SJDP. Is this a good option? I rather not spend 8 hours on a train from Paris to get to Bayonne and then get on another train or bus to get to SJDP. Also, it looks like the train from...
I will be walking in September and I’m traveling from US to Paris. Spending a couple of days in Paris and then traveling by train to Biarritz. Any recommendations for hotels in Biarritz as want to stay a couple of nights before arriving in SJPD and beginning my Camino.
We are flying into Biarritz and have an extra day/night during our travels that can be spent in either Biarritz or SJPP before we start walking. We would use the time to see some sights and recover from jet lag. Which town would you recommend, and do you have any sightseeing or lodging suggestions?
Looking for advice! We are flying into CDG this summer and landing at terminal 2E around 6am. Is there any hope of making it to the TGV train leaving at 8am for Bayonne? We have reservations made in St Jean Pied de Port for that night. Was really hoping to avoid having to get to Montparnasse...
Is it easier to fly into Madrid and try to get a train and taxi to St Jean Pied de Port, or is it easier to fly to Bilbao near Pamplona and take the bus and train?
From what I gather, from Bilbao airport I have to take a bus shuttle to the bus station, take a Flix bus to Bayonne for 3 hours...
