I'll of course be checking all the various options and associated prices, but looking to this group for any anecdotes regarding flying from Paris to Biarritz versus taking the train (to get to SJPDP)
My instinct is always to take a train over flying, and not having been to France since my...
Hello, We are excited to be starting Camino Frances soon and wonder if anyone has thoughts about catching a taxi from Pamplona airport to SJPDP at 22.00 on Monday 18th April. Would this be too late in the day? Thanks for any info
The Spanish bus company Alsa has just posted its schedule for buses from Pamplona to St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, beginning April 1:
https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/home
The only bus on their schedule leaves daily at noon, makes five stops enroute and arrives at 1:45 p.m. A ticket costs 22 Euros.
Hi everyone
I am planning my first, and long awaited, pilgrimage on the CP route starting on Saturday 5th June. I have a flight from Brisbane arriving in to Paris CdG nice and early at 7.35am on Friday the 3 June. My question is what is the most efficient way of getting from there to StJ PDP? I...
Just doing a bit of Camino dreaming and was looking at Rome2Rio. Appears there is no longer a train from Bayonne to SJPDP? Or just too early in the season?
Hi folks,
Just a quickie. we're landing in Biarritz and wondered if Taxi's will go from there to SJPP, how long it takes and approx cost ? any help much appreciated. The camino is calling....
Since the bus isn’t going to be running till April, Is it better to try to get from Pamplona to Bayonne in order to get to SJPP? Or take the bus I *think is still running to Roncesvalles and then contact Express Bourricot to try to get a ride from Roncesvalles to SJPP?
Getting to SJPP from Paris
I will be arriving at the Paris Airport on the morning of May 3rd and am hoping to travel to SJPdP by train/bus on that day, staying in SJPdP overnight before getting started on my Camino. Is that practical? Any advice would be appreciated.
Does anybody happen to know if the train line from Bayonne to St Jean is out of action ? 'Trainline' shows six times per day departures but no availability (April/May).....surely it can't be so busy that it has all sold out already ?
Hi all
I’m thinking of starting my Camino (SJPDP TO Finisterre) one day out of SJPDP - maybe 10-15kms out with an easy walk to adjust and acclimatise. Which town would be appropriate for that?
Maybe Irissarry?
Thanks
Hello!
I am planning to walk El Camino Frances in May 2022. I am having a little trouble figuring out how to get there and come back.
I am considering taking a flight from Atlanta to Barcelona and then taking a train to Pamplona and then a taxi to SJPDP. The problem is that when I arrive to...
Was wondering how to get from Barcelona to SJPDP in August. What I have read seems a bit old and when I start investigating buses and trains seem to have changed times or become non-existent. This will be my first Camino so am a real newbie. Thank you :)
I have heard that the train from Bayonne to SJPDP is not running any more. Is this a fact? If so, are there other options for us coming with the train from Paris?
I am in the planning stages of my first Camino, the Camino Frances, in August - Sept 2022. I am a 62 year old woman who has dreamed of doing Camino for too long. I will be alone for the first ⅔ of the route and then a girlfriend will join me in Leon. I will start in St Jean Pied de Port.
I...
Hi all, I'm looking at traveling to SJPdP from Barcelona this March because I found an airline ticket for only 39,000 miles into Barcelona. I was thinking of taking a train via Barcelona-Narbonne-Toulouse-Bayonne- St Jean Pied de Port since I'll be starting mid-March and that might be a little...
The map tells me that the walk from Bayonne to St Jean is approximately 50 km. That’s a 1-2 day walk. I figure that’s good preparation for the Camino Frances.
Has anyone done this walk?
Is it doable and is there a place to stop and stay mid-way?
Hi everyone. we are booked to fly into Bilbao from South Africa on the 8th of April 2022. this is my 3rd camino. the first 2 times I flew into Madrid and then trained/flew to Pamplona and then bussed to SJPDP. this time, I thought we could start and end in Bilbao; bus to Irun/hendaye and...
