Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

    Correct.

To increase my backpack size ...or not.

I consider coffee a PASSION, not an addition. I went without for a year because I was in a situation where the only coffee available within a radius of 1500 km was very similar to something else, usually brown. And there is something else that I consider a passion and not an addition. Let me...

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

ops... we don't wear rings! The paradoxical thing if they will ever deny it, is that on the night of our wedding my wife and I slept in a hostel... 😆 We married in NZ, actually, in total solitude: just the Justice of Peace and her daughter-in-law serving as witness. Then, on the...

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

that's interesting. How did you confirmed that? Just declaring it?
  6. JustOneGuy

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

Thank you! I am surprised that with the shortage of places they allow it.

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

please note my post #11. There has been a misunderstanding about what I meant with the "real thing"...

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

Funny: when I was a child I remember there was always a race to “conquer” the top bunk on school trips. I would still prefer it, I guess. Am I the only one? :D

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

😆 no, let me clarify. By “real thing” I meant doing a Camino frugally, aka sleeping in Albergues, not in (expensive) hotel. We can do that “real thing” easily and more comfortably at home.

    Morning Coffee Idea

I just received an ad for this: https://www.wacaco.com/es/products/nanopresso-journey-spring-run. 333 g in total (and the need to find hot water...).

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

A question for couples of different sexes: do you sleep separately in the albergues? Do you pay more, and/or is it more complicated to book, to sleep in the same dorm (in separate bunk beds, of course!), with your partner? Obviously we could choose to go to a hotel, but in the spring we would...

    Flood warning?!

IN SPAIN, If you have a smartphone with you, also check https://www.aemet.es/es/portada for your "comunidad autonoma". AEMET (Agencia Estatal de Metereologia) issues also the "Avisos de fenomeno meteorologicos adversos" (Warnings of adverse weather events), very useful for people like me that...

    Morning Coffee Idea

not that I disagree with you (even a "Pocket Coffee" is totally different from a good cup of coffee), but in a cup of coffee there are over 1,000 different compounds, even without counting milk. And the difference between "synthetic" and "natural" is highly debatable. BTW, my routine is...

    Morning Coffee Idea

if it's not summer, IMHO, this is much better: can be found at the SPAR supermarket sometime, in Spain.

GR130 @ La Palma: any advice?

Good evening everyone, Last Monday I began to notice red specks on my left arm. On Friday I went to the doctor because they were hurting. I thought about an insect bite. Nope: herpez zoster (shingle) 🙄. So far it doesn't hurt much, but I wake up constantly at night and have some accumulated...

Place to leave hiking poles in Finisterra

Just out of curiosity: I have noticed that many people would rather leave the hiking poles than carry them home. Is this just because they really do not want to fly with checked luggage? Do you have others at home? Or maybe you don't use them in your area? I ask because I paid more than 100€...

    Morning Coffee Idea

Still talking about coffee, I advise those passing through Rome to walk the Via Francigena* to go to the Caffè Tazza d'Oro, a stone's throw from the Pantheon, and ask for a “granatina di caffè con panna”. Don't worry about the innate, traditional rudeness of the waiter who will serve you. Like...

    Morning Coffee Idea

you probably know that many recent scientific papers indicate that coffee actually has a beneficial effect on health, if drunk in moderation (3-4 coffees a day, I mean Italian-style coffee). But mind you, as I wrote above this does not imply that caffeine is responsible for the beneficial...

    Morning Coffee Idea

Contrary to popular belief, caffeine is a totally odorless and tasteless compound. It is the aromas contained in coffee that give coffee its flavor. For this reason, many people confuse the “strength” of coffee, or its “bitterness” and the amount of caffeine contained, which is more or less...

Please use the correct format in monthly calendar threads!

Aren't we talking about a calendar for a trek? Then, I would suggest using "stardate" as THE format. Something like: "Captain's log, stardate 41276.9", to be read with some solemnity. I swear I will use it on my first Camino. 👾 Regards, JustOneGuy's log, stardate -298317.96350055654.
