LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walked His Way-Successfully!

Bravo Hector! I have followed you on your journey and it brought back incredible memories from my Camino Frances last year. I completed the Camino Portuguese this September and then the Camino Finisterre. All the while I revelled in your adventures on the Frances. Buen Camino and safe travels home.

Injured after stage one and upset

Be kind to yourself. You are young and have many ups and downs ahead of you. Heal, enjoy your time on the Camino in whatever capacity and for however long your are able. I did not walk the Camino until I was 65 years old. You are quite fortunate to have many more opportunities. Buen Camino

    Lodging advice for Camino Finisterre

Hello all I just completed the Camino Portuguese and plan to walk to Finisterra on SEP 12. Any advice for lodging about 20 km or so. I see some places in Negreira, but there are not many positive comments. Anyone with recent experience? Thanks

    Noah's Ark Albergue

I am currently on the Caminho Português Central. I discovered this place on my way to an albergue I had already booked. The owner Saimon is a very friendly guy and eager to host pilgrims at his place. Check him out, he's about 8 km north of Ponte de Lima. If I had not already booked a place I...

    Shoes on the CF

I walked the entire CF in one pair of Hoka trail runners. No foot problems at all.

LIVE from the Camino Descent to Roncesvalles

Glad you took in stride, so to speak. I made a couple of diversions on my CF last year, planned and unplanned. Enjoy every step, especially the extra ones! I begin my Camino Portuguese next week, from Porto. Buen Camino

Yes! A lesson that I learned was to look back at where you just came from. More than once I noticed things that I had missed on my way forward

Ticks Carrying Ebola type disease in Spain!?

I guess some of us were attempting to be helpful and not assuming that everyone is a native English speaker or a spell checker. I guess this was an unfortunate waste of time. Tick borne diseases are a serious problem.

Ticks Carrying Ebola type disease in Spain!?

Ticks in the USA carry a host of nasty diseases, viruses, etc. Nothing like ebola, but Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and a virus called alpha gal which makes you allergic to mammal protein. I live in Virginia and it has been a particularly bad year for ticks.

    Orisson

May be too late. Try Auberge Borda which is only about a km or two farther. It books quickly also. As suggested also, taxi back to SJPP.

    Bear near Cadavo Baleira

Beautiful animal and encouraging to see they still exist there. I live in the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia and we have plenty of black bears as neighbors. They're good neighbors and only become a problem when humans get careless with food.

    Wet hiking shoes

I wore Hoka trail runners which were not waterproof. The were inundated in the great flood in Pamplona last September and a few other days. The advantage of trail runners is that they dry out quickly (overnight). Just take the liners out at night and they should be ready to go by morning. Buen...

Should I replace my Hokas now?

You can buy new liners and maybe even take an extra with you. I started the CF last fall and had similar wear in my liners by the time I got to Burgos. I replaced them at a local sporting goods shop and finished my Camino with no further problems. Good luck and Buen Camino
