Fuel charge - fair point, this got lost in the thread. It might be that this particular franchisee is less than honest. I imagine you’ve left a poor review on trust pilot, hopefully that will get their attention, though if they do sharp practice...

Do a walk around the car and video top to bottom. Don't forget the interior. (And if you do damage the car, just be honest about it and avoid holding everyone up for no good reason).

That’s what got me asking the question - I was using the little man on google maps to look at bits of the Norte and it seemed to be mostly road walking!

Exactly. Personally, I don’t mind tarmac, it’s traffic that I dislike. Not just the danger, but the noise, and the tedium of breaking stride to get out of the way and all that. I also found, this morning, that the route maps from Camino Ways...

Dumb as it might seem, it's only recently sunk in that a good deal of some camino routes might be on vehicular roads rather than walking trails. I don't really mean the town and village-y bit, that's fairly self-evident, more the stretches in...

Hi @Bradypus, that reminds me of a curious story I heard one day in Italy... At about 3 AM one morning I was awoken by 'fireworks' exploding in my left eye. Frantic, I set off in the dark following steamy mosquito infested paths through the...

I did my first Camino at 24 hrs notice and 2nd at 48 hrs notice. Admittedly I am a seasoned backpacker and it’s the same thing really. Dorms, communal living, new faces all the time. It’s not that big a deal! Shoes, couple of changes of...
