Yes, there is another version for the stars that represent Madrid ( city) and six more important towns ( like Alcala de Henares). The Comunidad Autonoma de Madrid has 8.000 km2. Puerto de la Fuenfria is a border with Castilla y Leon on Camino de Madrid.

You, Trecile...are a marvel. A walking encyclopedia. Amazing!!
Thank you, but I only have a small amount of knowledge, as I wrote in another thread, knowing where to find the answers is the key!
This is so important. You don't need to have all the answers (especially if you don't know what the questions will be!), but knowing where to find the answers is key. And this forum is a great resource for that.

Is this the standard waymarking sign for the Camino de Madrid along its entire length?
The Camino is mostly marked with yellow arrows that are renewed by the Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Santiago de Madrid. The marks with the shell were put by the Comunidad de Madrid, so at least those on "mojones" must have the flag.

On much of the early stages of the Camino de Madrid, you will see, instead, the red on white markers that remind you that this is historically the cattle (vaca) route for moving cattle from the area around Madrid to northern Spain. They look like, or are a variant of this sign:

Yes, Camino de Madrid uses old " cañadas" on some stretches. The " cañadas" were used mostly by sheep herds from south to north of Spain and vice versa. Now they are used by local cows, walkers and cyclists.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I just walked the Camino Madrid at the end of August and noticed the cañadas on the trail walking out of Madrid towards Tres Cantos. I didn't take a photo but there was even an interpretive sign indicating the descending order of right if way on the trail.....COWS had priority! After Tres Cantos, the more familiar majones with the Madrid flag.
