Time of past OR future Camino
Future Camino Francis planned for 2024
We have been travelling from Australia via Dubai and have been caught in the kaos in Dubai airport for over 3 days. Sleeping on the floor of the airport and finally Emerites put us up in accomodation. Just arrived in Madrid 6 days late but now packs are still lost. We won't be able to start as planned but we hope to start our Camino if our packs turn up. Hotel hoping due to

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

There will be plenty of Decathlon stores around with inexpensive but good quality kit. Madrid is an expensive place to hang around waiting for luggage. Can you make arrangements to collect it on the way out?

I had forgotten about the catastrophic rainfall recently - where was my head???
I hope you are dry and somewhat comfortable in Madrid - there are worse places to get stranded.

What is the airline doing about your packs? Are they going to send them to - where - what hotel? How long do they expect you to wait?

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Where was your starting point? Maybe some of the local Albergues will have items in the free boxes

We are making our way back to Madrid after completing the Camino Frances and we're heading to Madrid via San Sebastián. We have two sets of hiking poles and two backpacks with two Altus Ponchos . We're happy to meet you in Madrid on Sunday or San Sebastián on Thursday through Saturday morning, or Burgos on Saturday evening. We can give you our gear and when you get back to Australia just box it up and send it back to us. We live in the United States. My pack is a size small Gregory, 29 liter, and my husband's pack is men's size Gregory 36 litre.

Thank you for the generous offer. We are still hotel hopping in Madrid and pray that our gear will arrive. We are still trying to rest up from a very stressful event.

3rd Edition. Vital content training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
We have , just two days ago retutned from Milano via Dubai to experience a similar but not so arduous situation. Fortunately the extra day or so has allowed Emirates to streamline it's processes somewhat . Water and a few snacks on arrival at the terminal , as well as a free one gigabite sim card , a shuttle to a decent hotel for the night and rescheduled flights ,albeit at 4am a day later. The queues are horrendous but the results acceptable. I can't help but think that if such a disaster had happened at Melbourne airport it would have been closed for six months . Not much is more taxing than this situation when travelling. Good luck to you and I hope the kindness of strangers will help on the way

I'm in Estrella today on Francis and free boxes are scarse this year. I had towel , face cloth and merono undies taken off line in SJPDP and only replaced with a small travel towel at Municipal albergue here today by the lovely hospidero.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Such a stressful event. I'm travelling around Australia in a van atm and just read about the storm in detail.
30,000 pieces of luggage in Dubai need to be sorted so the suggestion to buy what you need in Decathlon and start walking may be the best solution.
Friends hiking in Latvia lost their expensive backpacks (with specialised gear) never to be seen again.
Rest up and buen camino with your positive attitude 👣

Thanks everyone for your support. Our bags turned up thankfully. We picked them up from the airport very late on Thursday night. Have just had a lovely night in Toledo and will be on train to Pamplona tomorrow. Buen Camino

Great and helpful response.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Well we made it to Santiago de Compostela this morning and are so thrilled to be here. It hasn't been the adventure we planned but we are proud of ourselves that we stuck it out through all the dramas in Dubai and getting the flu which stopped us walking for two weeks. We are happy that we still walked 275kms. Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement and support. Buen Camino ❤️
