2022
Hi folks I know I’ve been missing in action but I am alive and well. I finished the Camino Frances in late May 2018 with my greatfeul thanks to forum members who helped me prepare. Lately I’ve been trying to catch up on home stuff and was ill for a time, now feeling better I decided it’s time to finish my writing on post camino thoughts. I warn you it’s longo_O. At 21 pages it could be consided a small novel or novela . Let me know your thoughts and if you felt some of the same feelings or had some of the same experiences on the camino. By the way I am already planning for Spring 2019 cant decide if I want to tackle the Norte or Primitivo/ingles or Portuguese/ingles... as always the cyborg turtle and the knee will decide.

I love your "novela"! I read sections only but will return to read it word for word. I love your writing style. Congratulations on your achievement. Buen (next) camino!

Read it front to back (when I was supposed to be working...oops). An inspiring story and one that is told with great honesty. I felt many of the same feelings although our two caminos in May/June were with much nicer weather (1 day of rain in each camino).
The feeling of self acceptance was amplified in your story. I wrote in my journal that the Camino was "500miles of painful peace." I think you might agree.

Hahaha hope you didnt get in trouble. Thank you so much for your kind sentiments. Although we had rain and snow I actually loved the cool weather. Since I’m baking in Florida sunshine everyday it was nice to feel the cool while walking definately going the same time next year. Due to the injuries received in the military head I struggle with depression everyday but the camino reminds me to just accept and live. Yes I completely agree painful peace is a fantastic description. Congratulation on completing your May/June camino and Buen Camino on your next!

I am glad you got so much from the way . I remember how hard it was for my wife on that day to zuburi.
Thank you...it was brutal not because of the elevation/climb but because of the deceptive tricks it played on my mind lol but strangely enough I enjoyed it.

Thank you, I look forward to reading your novela!

I remember you! We met you going up a hill. You went up it very quickly, with the biggest knee brace ever and you were singing. I was reading this thinking I wonder if it’s that girl we saw singing going up a hill bursting with energy. Then I saw the photos and it was you.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I just finished reading your experiences on the Camino. Thank you for sharing your story from your heart; a story of pain, perseverence, contemplation and joy. Very nicely written!
Thank you so much. I appreciate your comments . Maybe one day it will turn into a real novela lol

If you want an Irish passport and have Irish grandparents, I think you qualify. Could be useful at customs checks!

@Iriebabel : thank you!

What better way to spend this Sunday morning then reading your story. You write so vividly, I felt like I was almost sitting next to you in that small café in Santiago.
The way you tried to intervene that fight : that shows courage. Not man people would do this.

The story about the depressed man and the caring friend . When people " notice " another , that makes such a difference, doesn't it?

Your words radiate compassion and empathy and the world certainly could use more of that.

So again thank you and keep sharing.

Thank you for your warm words and sentiment. These were some many situations which really touched me. I struggle to remember but those mentioned were very significant to me. The fight in the square was very sad and I felt embarrassed for him but one cannot reason with crazy...at one point I managed to pull him away and we walked a few feet then he turned back towards the young men and got into the altercation a second time. As for the woman and her friend there is not a day that goes by that I dont think of him and hope he is ok. Happy sunday to you.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I just read your recollection, and it made me both tear up and smile in recognition. So beautiful, and you put into words so many things and feelings I have not yet been able to. You seem like a strong and brave person. Just came back from my first camino, and feel a little bit crazy, a little bit proud, a little bit confused and a whole lot of sadness. What did I just do?!?
Thank you for you honest writings, I'm sure I will read it again and again. Good luck on your next Camino!

Congratulations perigrino! Thank you so much for your lovely words and sentiment. I just tried not to hold anything back.

Dearest Iriebabel. I have just read your novella and I loved it! You really took me there. I, too was cheering for you walking into Zubiri. Felt your anxiety when you lost your phone. Your experiences and insights were heart warming and I felt as though you were reaching into my soul. Dancing lifts my spirits too so dancing when the going gets tough sounds like a plan for me on my Camino Frances in 2019. Buen Camino - hugs, love and happiness.
