I’m looking for a store in Santiago to buy a crucifix. Not a trinket but a nice one. If they have other items as well, that would be nice. Any suggestions? Thanks!

For any reason, jet seems to be a speciality of Santiago. If anyone knows why, I would appreciate information.

I recently read an interesting piece where the writer noted that there was a good source of jet relatively nearby in Asturias. There was also a widespread belief that jet acted as a talisman to protect against evil influences.

Ooh! Thanks!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thanks. I’ll take a look. I’m not wanting jewelry but one to hang on the wall. I’m on the Primitivo now and didn’t find one in Lugo so hoping Santiago was better. I also wanted to avoid sending all day searching. I’ll ask once I get to the Parador.

Don't worry - you'll find what you need. I bought one on my camino in 2018. Plenty of decent places that sells quality and not just tourist crap.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I made it to Santiago. For all of you following, there is a shop behind the cathedral that makes Galicia silver and objects including crucifixes. I got one there, they are beautiful and run a few hundred euros depending on size. The name is Augusto Otero.
