Hello, I recall a comment on here some time ago of someone who walked a camino in memory of someone and had a special inscription noted on their Compostella. Apologies - I have tried to search it again but have been unable to locate it. We are currently walking to Santiago in memory of a dear family member and would love to have him recognized on our Compostella. With deepest gratitude

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
The Vicare Pro annotation, together with the other person's name, indicates that you walked your Camino and earned that Compostela for the spiritual benefit of another person, who for whatever reason, will never be able to do a Camino of their own. The other person can be deceased, elderly, infirm or critically ill.

This is a free service, but MUST be requested when you are at the counter, receiving your Compostela. It would help if you prepared a piece of paper with the words "Vicare Pro - John Doe (replace with actual name)" to the staffer or volunteer assisting you at the counter.

Hope this helps.

Tom

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Did that last spring for my late wife. In a previous posting last year it was advised that you have patience as some of the workers at the Compostela office might not be aware of it. I did as in a previous post, wrote Vicare Pro - with her name. The process worked as advertised.

Happy to help. I've volunteered at the Pilgrim Office many times over the past decade, and this is always a hit with pilgrims who know to ask.

Now that I think of it, I believe it is actually "In vicare pro name of deceased"

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
As the annotation is added by hand to the otherwise printed compostela, you may think of other options for having the dedication written by someone with clear handwriting at a later date …

I’ve had three Compostelas inscribed VP at the pilgrim reception. For the last two it required a supervisor to be involved as I don’t think it’s an everyday request and the volunteers on the desks were not familiar with it.

This is so very kind of you all for this explanation- I really appreciate you help thank you

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
