Post-camino tattoo?

I've never been a tattoo person but even before reading this thread I had though about getting a very small tattoo to commemorate my walk, like a scallop shell. Or maybe the scallop shell and cross. Most likely on my ankle. The only place I can think of that isn't sagging or won't sag too much over the next 20 years. :D
Have the same sentiment and choice as the one you are putting forward.
I would prefer scallop no larger than 2 - 4 cm on the left leg below the knee, on the left side, so that it is discreet and only I know it is there and then some more people who know what it actually means....
I would go for either the stilized or a more naturalistic scallop....

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I have been thinking of getting a scallop shell tattoo ever since my first Camino. I haven't taken the tattoo mostly for budget reasons and also because I feel somehow guilty I have never actually finished my Camino (for me finishing means arriving to the Atlantic coast). If someone has recommendations of tattoo shops in Santiago, I'd like to hear about them! I'd love to have a small, about 1 euro coin-sized scallop shell on one or both of my ankles.

My friend and I just completed the Camino de Santiago, Frances, on October 25, 2016. About half way through the Camino we spent two days in Leon, and got scalloped shells tattoos - the tattoo artist used my actual Camino shell and some on-line pictures to create our shells. We love them!!!!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I’d like a shell tattoo in Santiago post-Camino in July. Should I assume that I need to pick a shop online and book ahead? Or can I walk in? Just want something small.

I posted #101 & #104,
I have been satisfied w my small designs ( 3 x 3 cm on my shoulder and 4 x 4 cm on my leg). No bloodied dagger and the Martmamori implication...
I had them done at home, after the fact and with a cool head...
Only some people notice it and ask question and it is all right....

I inquired in pamplona about the cost of a simple shell design, just black lines, and the artist wanted 80€, said it would take 20 minutes.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Got it done whilst backpacking in southern India for 3 months....6 months after completing the emotional journey of the Camino de Santiago (Frances route). I'm 64 and it was my first tattoo, and is on my left calf. The words 'Buen Camino' in italics above the scallop shell and cross, with July 17th 2023 in Roman numerals below. I put together 3 separate tattoos which I'd seen online for the tattoo artist to create it. I'm very pleased with the result.. 🙂
