And think how popular this place will be in a post-covid world, when we will all probably still be hoping to avoid large dorms! I think I stayed there on my very first camino in 2000, or at the latest in 2002. This was back in the days when I was an all-albergue girl, and it was a heavenly respite from the snoring!I too, stayed at the municipal in Cacabelos. I liked the quirky little "mini cabins"...definitely a "one of a kind" experience on the Camino Frances.

If I remember correctly, that’s where the Camino Inglés enters the city. Sabine will know, since she is our resident Inglés fanatic. In a Santiago park.

best hot chocolate EVER in the truck stop/restaurant/hotel in Castiledelgado!!! Needs to be spooned rather than drank
I was able to have my spoon stand up in my sumptuous cup of hot chocolate in Leon, directly across from the cathedral...well, possibly a slight exaggeration.best hot chocolate EVER in the truck stop/restaurant/hotel in Castiledelgado!!! Needs to be spooned rather than drank

(Apologies being lazy, and posting from my media files here. My computer is on its way out and that's where my photo files are... but I'm posting this from my phone.)
There might have been another pergrina walking with a matching complementary pair
Did you use a special filter for that shot?
Maybe around Pamplona? They have a factory there...

Kinda looks like it but but no, this was just stopped down to F/22 with lens angled to getting some extra distortion.Did you use a special filter for that shot?
Did someone say "sheep"?"Sheep may safely graze". On the VdlP near Montamarta

Ah! The ability to stop down is not a feature coming to my iPhone anytime soon.Kinda looks like it but but no, this was just stopped down to F/22 with lens angled to getting some extra distortion.
There are some good iphone filters that do very, very well without having to carry a DSLR. I'm actually considering this for my next Camino so I can reduce my gear weight by 4-5 kgs by leaving my camera at home and just using my iphone.Ah! The ability to stop down is not a feature coming to my iPhone anytime soon.
Beautiful effect.
The atrium of the church of Castroncelos (A Pobra do Brollón, Lugo) is a place of memory. Victims of fascist repression during the Spanish civil war were buried there. ARMH worked there in July 2016, under the direction of archaeologist René Pacheco. In 2018 our team also traveled there to try to recover more bodies, in a sadly failed attempt.Sorry - the text won't attach in it's translated form.
The attached video tells the story of one of the victims.
Thank you so much for finding and posting these links!! I hope that sometime in the future, the exposition will travel and we'll have a chance to see it. Wonderful that they're posting it virtually - it's incredibly moving to see the images and hear the stories. The title itself, "The Little Things" tugs at my heart. This exposition was supposed to be an in-person one, traveling all around the country, but COVID changed that. Now we can all see it virtually on this website. There is a page with a link to more videos like the one posted by @Theatregal.
At 17 km, that makes it the longest bridge in Europe! That pales in comparison with some of the other long bridges in the world, but I remember feeling very uneasy after about 10 km of being suspended out over the water. I can’t imagine I’d enjoy a 100 km bridge.Caminho Portugues April, 2016 First day walking out of Lisbon with Ponte Vasco de Gama in the distance.

I’ve now watched several, and the one about the bill for the 13 bottles of cognac is haunting. The title itself, "The Little Things" tugs at my heart.
Just...no.I can’t imagine I’d enjoy a 100 km bridge.
It is no longer the longest bridge in Europe, that is the Crimean bridge. Still the longest in the EU thoughAt 17 km, that makes it the longest bridge in Europe! Plus it is only 17km if you include the access roads. Bridge itself is 12kmAt 17 km, that makes it the longest bridge in Europe! Truly. The tragic, chilling story that the information on a simple dated receipt holds. As do the beautiful cufflinks of Silvosa the tailor. All the stories. The exposition is remarkable.I’ve now watched several, and the one about the bill for the 13 bottles of cognac is haunting.
The same reason I didn't stop to visit it Another reminder for me to not "judge a book (or a church) by it's cover." !!I'm ashamed to say I didn't pay attention to that church, and vaguely remember dismissing it completely because of the modern portico.
Here's mine!...and not the last of the exquisite San Martin!

I agree about the municipal albergue at Fromista.
Well, now I don't feel so bad about my choice to stay where I did – because the muni doesn't sound a whole lot better.Agree too about the muni in Fromista.
Sadly, we missed this beautiful Church completely! It was an extremely hot day the day we walked to Fromista and we were staying in a Hostal across the road from Iglesia de San Pedro, which is quite away from the camino. By the time we reached our accommodation and did the various chores one does, because of the heat we didn't do much exploring. Then we left Fromista the next morning at 5.55am to beat the heat! So probably didn't even notice the other Church, it was probably to dark! Not the first pic here of the church in Fromista but still a gorgeous sight.
This was 2011.

I (Anne) am also having a hard time choosing photos, that is why I went back to the start of our Portugues Caminho to see if there were some different ones that I hadn't already chosen previously! It's not that I must show off my boardwalk picture too but that the previously posted pictures help me choose what to show next (I've submitted all my San Martín photos already). I've been having a hard time picking pics lately.
Approaching the western beach at Finisterra.

Just an opinion but as they are, I like the zoomed in version more but if you cropped most of the sky off the wide angle, I think it would be a very interesting pano-like photo.I got away with this before so I'm doing it again. Two different pictures taken close together where I can't tell which is the one I like better.
On the way to Finisterra.

Fun to see all the various leading lines here.
Thanks. I should do that with the original but I tried with the scaled down version I posted. I cropped out shadow on the bottom too.Just an opinion but as they are, I like the zoomed in version more but if you cropped most of the sky off the wide angle, I think it would be a very interesting pano-like photo.
Love it! Now it tells a story like I was walking into the scene! Thanks. I should do that with the original but I tried with the scaled down version I posted. I cropped out shadow on the bottom too.

Thank you for this article Laurie, and for the past stories the article leads to. Yes, deeply moving. Such important work by the ARMH (Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory)There is an article in today’s El País in English about the exhibit. Very moving.
I'm noticing all the many flight jet streams in he sky!View attachment 88992
Arriving at Alto del Perdón on a Sunday morning, in time for an outdoor church service (spot the priest).
What a place this is.
