FOR SALE

New Women's Osprey Eja 38 Backpack: $40 US, plus shipping.

This is a very durable, ultra-light backpack (2.597 lb. / 1.178k ) in size Women's M/L that has never been used, besides a couple of practice walks around town. Fully featured, internal frame backpack with mesh back panel: perfect for walking the Camino.

I'm selling it at such a low price because:

1. I don't care about a "profit"; I want it go to a Camino walker.

2. I got it for free from my friend Mike, the original Osprey founder, owner, and pack designer.

3. And mainly because it turns out it didn't fit me well. It just came up too high behind my head. If it had fit, I absolutely would have kept it.

Most Osprey packs are adjustable for different torso lengths, but to save weight, this early model isn't as adjustable. I recommend that you stop by an REI or other Osprey dealer near you to take a look at one and try it on. They will have a special apparatus to measure your torso to check if this is a good fit for you. If it is, I want you to have it!

Here's some info. on it from the Osprey site:

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
Have worn this pack on 3 long and 1 small caminos. It didn't worry me at all that it came up high behind my head. It doesn't fit in cabin luggage and the mesh at the front and side pockets get holes eventually. Otherwise strong for a lightweight pack

If it comes up high behind your head, then you likely had the wrong size, like me. If you got holes in the mesh or the side pockets, I am confident that Osprey would repair or replace your pack, no matter how long ago it was.
(ps - just curious why you took it on 4 caminos instead of replacing it, if it didn't work for you?)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
It worked well for me and fitted me well. The frame fitted me perfectly .It didn't bother me that it was high behind my head at all. I didn't keep much in the very top part that i could remove just pack cover. The frame was a perfect fit and the bit i loved was that I could access the drink bottles without taking the pack off. Osprey's Almighty guarantee is not covered in Australia. I did send the pack to them and all they did was put on tiny heat patches. It took 6 weeks and I could have done it myself. Definitely no replacement pack in Australia

I love my EJA 38 and really need a new one as they don't make that size here in Australia anymore . I have worn it on 3 long Caminos . I'm happy to buy it. How much would the shipping be.

Hi - I am planning my first Camino (Frances) for fall 2025. I have been looking at this pack and have been watching prices. I would be very interested in purchasing from you. I live in Dallas, TX. Let me know how we can move forward.

Holoholo automatically captures your footpaths, places, photos, and journals.
I don't know what the shipping would be.. I will box it up and check the weight and look into it. Will let you know.
I recommend using Pirate Ship for the best shipping rates. I have shipped to Australia before, and they have a simplified process for shipping internationally that was very reasonable.

I just bought the Eja pro, which is even lighter and I wondered about the mesh. How did you fly with it? Did you put it in another bag?

I carried it on board the International flight from Australia. They were more lenient than budget flights within Europe. I just tightened all the straps so they couldn't get caught. The pockets were already damaged.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Thank you. Brisbane airport is really strict, so I think I'll have to check it because of my poles. I'm not prepared to lose them.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

If you send me your address, I'll send it and let you know the shipping cost. We'll add that to the $40 and you can pay me on Venmo. How does that sound?

I expect its too difficult to send to Australia and arrange payment.
Sadly! Best to send to someone in your country.

Hi AusPeregrina, if your poles are retractable, wrap/tape them in bubble wrap and strap them in your side mesh pocket, you should be ok to have your pack/poles with you in the cabin. I've flown out of Melb, Syd and Cairns with mine and no issue at all. I just tell security what they are. Singapore is my international hub and they're super strict, but again no drama. Admittedly, I've not exited BNE..... Buen Camino!

Fail to prepare? reduce your risk by buying this book full of practical info.

I think the problem is that once you've hit security you can't go back. I also don't think they're contactable. Having said that I just measured my pack and it's outside the size range for carry on, so that settles it, but I'll definitely do the bubble wrap! Thanks, for the tip!

You can check in only your poles in a box or cheap duffel bag. That way you risk losing only your poles and not your backpack and all of its contents.
The pack doesn't fit carry on dimensions, so I'll have to check it. I think I'll do the duffel. Thanks.

My backpack didn't meet cabin luggage measurements in Australia. I went to the airlines information desk and they said it was ok as long as I didn't have anything else They issued the boarding pass. Australia seems more lenient than budget European flights. I bought poles on arrival.

Wow. Fantastic! I will so try that. It's only 5cms over, but I know I'll have to check it on the internal flights.
