Hello Forum friends,
I'll be heading to Chicago today to fly ✈️ to Madrid, then on to Ponferrada to begin the Camino Invierno, ending in Monteforte. Next a train to A Corona for two nights before walking the Camino Ingles from Ferrol to Santiago.
I hope to start a "Live on the Camino" thread in a few days.🙂

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Buen camino! I am starting a real job, for the first time in a long time, while you're on camino, so I'll be doubly jealous!
Hmmm, somehow I doubt it's a desk job, Nick,🤔but who knows. More likely, I envision you as an awesome tour guide in Rome🙂, or possibly working with an archeological dig. 😉

Love it, and I wish! Unfortunately it is a desk job but a pretty fun one, working in the press operations department of the organizing committee for the next Winter Olympics in northern Italy (Milano Cortina 2026).

Hi Chrissy, I’m on the Ingles now and will probably be in Ourense by the time you hit Ferrol. A sad near miss. I’ll post a few bar recommendations when I’ve checked them all 😉

Wow, that sounds amazing. Is it a two+ year gig? I know I'm hijacking my thread, but I'm sure many members would love to know how long @jungleboy plans to be at his new "desk" job.

Thanks, @Tincatinker. That will be a bummer to miss seeing you, but I'll still look around for the young man with a Camino shell tattoo on his bicep. I arrive in Ferrol on 10/6, if I stay illness and accident free.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Hey, have a great time. Just back from 3 weeks in Coruna.

Here is a tapas bar recommendation for you. It’s more of a locals place than tourists (not that there seem to be many tourists there) but this was great, cheap and authentic.

Tapas at €1.70 and wine at €2.50.

Hi all,
We have been at the airport for a couple of hours and I have some news to report. I purchased this inexpensive pair of hiking poles for under $40 on Amazon as an experiment. They collapse really small (similar to black diamonds) so I took a chance to bring them and slipped them in a water bottle compartment of my carryon backpack. They went through security with no questions asked.
I'll report back when I fly home and see if I will be lucky to have the same success.🤞

I have just returned home today from my Caminos and am happy to report that Madrid Barajas airport never asked about my new poles flying back to Chicago (post #16), so I still have them.🙂
Also, they were very sturdy, yet lightweight and I loved them! (My son and I used one pole each.)

I loved following your Caminos Chrissy. Looking forward to following again when you next step out! In the meantime, stay well, have fun and happy planning. Buen Camino!

Oh and great news re your poles. I lost mine to Madrid airport. After their herculean effort, I was devastated leaving them behind, out there on their own, alone and afraid. I now have hope that next time they'll be accompanying me home. Happy days!
