Time of past OR future Camino
2019, 2023 & now 2024
Hi All, Rachel from UK here. I walked part of the Camino in 2019 (6days from Pamplona). Last year I walked Frances until Leon. 2024 is the route to Santiago. Any tips from Leon to Santiago gratefully received. Thanks for this forum, its been a great resource the last years.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
It’s a very nice section of the FrancĂ©s.

A few ‘tips’ off the top of my mind would be, that the descent from Cruz de Ferro to Molinaseca is quite steep and rocky; if it is wet/raining you may want to go by the road instead of the path – though you would miss some beautiful scenario. Also, the climb to O Cebreiro is steep and could be a challenge especially if done at the end of a (long) walking day.

Buen Camino!

Thanks for the tips @Turga would you recommend doing this at this time of year, or do you think to get the most from this stretch Later in April or June would be better?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I usually walk later in the year, August/September, when it's really hot and dry (mostly :) ) but I could imagine that early spring would be a very nice time to walk - so I heard.

There's a third alternative that @peregrina2000 described here that may also be worth considering, rather than the road, if you want to avoid that rocky descent to Molinaseca. It recently came up in another thread.
