"Ter" and "Qua" are short for the Portuguese terms for Tuesday and Wednesday. An earlier comment suggested this was a big storm blowing in from the southwest, to be followed by a low and temperatures well below normal.

I just read an update in Publico about the weather for the week, and it adds details suggesting that north of the mouth of the Mondego (east>west river through Coimbra) will get the worst of the weather; Tuesday night through Thursday; heavy rain and possibly high winds as well.

So anyone on the caminho from Porto north is likely to be subject to this. It also warns about the heavy rainfall in the areas that have had wildfires. Possibly of landslides because the land may be destabilized after losing its vegetation.

Good to hear it's changed. For the North Americans metrically challenged: 71 mm (millimetres) = 7 cm (centimetres) = close to 3 inches! (approximately 2 1/2 cm/in). That is ONE HECK of a lot of rain!

If it's even close to that amount, I would be very careful anywhere there are streams; likely to be some flooding, and streams could be quite dangerous.

I'm Canadian myself, and of an age that I, myself, have been using metric for 50 years, but I know myself and lots of older Canadians who still pause, if rain is being predicted in mm...and think...hmm, how much rain is that? [Apologies to all Canadians who do *not* do that. Probably anyone under 60.]
