Hi! I leave this weekend for a 10 days on the route Via Podiensis. I booked my accommodations because I’m short of time. I planned to leave Sunday from Le Puy tot st Privat. But I arrive in Le Puy Friday. Is it wise to break the leg up between those two? Im even thinking about first day to Montbonnet and then a short easy day to st Privat. Is this wise or just enjoy a first day in Le Puy and start off to St Privat?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Montbonnet once, St. Christophe twice for me to break up the leg. Don't kill yourself the first day. The downhill to St. Privat is very tiring. The climb to Saugues is taxing, too. I learned the word "grele" on that leg...

IMHO...I would go with the first day to Monbonnet, then seond day to St Privat. It worked perfect for us last year.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I’ve walked twice, the first time in 2019 we spent the first night in Montbonnet and the second in Monistrol. More recently I spent the first night in Saint-Privat and the second in Saugues. This was more tiring of course, but was somewhat due to extremely strong winds in April. I prefer walking the longer distance, also our gîte in Montbonnet didn’t open until 3 so sitting outside the gate for a couple of hours was rather boring (we did end up at a café a short walk away).
I guess it really depends on fitness level, and whether one would rather be walking or waiting. I’m 70 so I don’t think age matters all that much.

I’m in Le Puy now. I booked a tente on a camping de ferme/ bio gite in Ramourcouls, just before Monbonnet. Then to St Privat and then a tough day to Saugues. I loved the idea of the host to stay in a tent of them. I will let know here how it was.
