The date for my departure on the Camino is now set in stone for September 4 from Burgos, where I left off last year. I'll be walking to Astorga, then taking the train to Pamplona where I will meet up with a friend ad we will walk to Leon. I have two months to walk and to be a hospitalera again, and am looking forward to the adventure.

Bonita and Dave Holland (from Surrey) start in SJDP Sep 3 he then departs for home on 8th and I meet up with Katy in Pamplona and will continue to Santiago from there.

Hi, My friend and I are arriving in SJPDP on October 18 and starting our first Camino on October 19 - but only walking until November 1st. We will see where that takes us before flying home from Bilbao. We did not realize that Orisson is closed by October 19th so will be making the one day trek to Roncesvalles. Please put us on the list - Emily and Cheryl! Thanks.

Hi @Beckett and welcome to the forum. The gite at Orisson is closed because the weather starts to deteriorate by then, so check at the Pilgrims Office before do setting off from SJPDP to Roncesvalles via the Route Napoleon. The alternative route through Valcarlos is really very lovely, the more historic, and safer in bad weather. Plus you can stay at Valcarlos in the excellent albergue, thus splitting the 30km to Roncesvalles into much more manageable 15km days.

municipal albergue is VERY comfortable with good heat, blankets and showers. You can reserve in advance if you wish. For more info see their web

Thanks Nonami. I'm now starting late September, maybe around the 25th. This will be my second Camino Frances and I'm doing this one on my own after walking with my daughter and son all the way to Finisterre in 2014. I'm looking forward to fresh air, blue sky and Camino serenity after undertaking aid work in Myanmar for the last 16 months. Can't wait to put my boots back on and just walk!

I leave BC Canada on October 6th arriving in Paris morning of October 7th then train(s) to St Jean (haven't booked any yet )
I should be leaving from St Jean on the 8th of October. Ive never been out of North America before so not sure about jet lag or travel in foreign countries so Im sure I got some learning to do. Guess what Im saying is, I may not be leaving until the 9th
I don't fly out of Madrid until November 17th so I am hoping to do the Camino Muxiana as well. I was hoping to go Santiago to Muxia then to Finisterre but not sure if that direction qualifies. Research to be done

I don't fly out of Madrid until November 17th so I am hoping to do the Camino Muxiana as well. I was hoping to go Santiago to Muxia then to Finisterre but not sure if that direction qualifies. Research to be done

Hello Nonami and fellow pilgrims
I am starting from StJPdP on Friday, the 16th of September (yaaay, that is less than 3 days away)!!!
Am doing some practice walking in the Lit-Et-Mixe area 60 km north of Bayonne (22 km / 26000 steps in pouring rain and thunderstorm all day today). Will drop my car at Biarritz airport at about noon, and try to catch the 14:55 train from Bayonne to StJ. If any of you are taking the same one, I am the guy with the green bush hat and huge red backpack ;-)

I am leaving St Jean on the 6th of October. As I am somewhat older, 72 on the 10th,. Chances are good that you will soon pass me. Old guy, big blue Osprey pack, green ball cap. I should be leaving from St Jean on the 8th of October. Ive never been out of North America before so not sure about jet lag or travel in foreign countries so Im sure I got some learning to do. Guess what Im saying is, I may not be leaving until the 9th

Certainly will Buz!! Ive not trained for this so im going to take it easy for first few days for sure.
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

My wife and I will be starting in Sarria on October 3rd. We will probably be slightly slower making progress than Buz of the big Osprey pack. My pack is an Osprey as well (green) and my wife'll be carrying an adorable REI Trail 40 with a yoga mat on top.
