    private albergues cancelling reservations

    Perhaps one day we will walk together.

    private albergues cancelling reservations

    The original albergue was very highly rated, while the albergue I ended up in was on a noisy road and had no ventilation or AC. Maybe it's OK to accept a different accommodation in Spain, but in other places a hotel trying to encourage you to take a different location is probably not really...

    private albergues cancelling reservations

    I agree that the vast majority of albergue operators are not making massive sums of money and are running albergues not just to making a living, but also because they believe in the experience that people have on the Camino. In this particular case, one of the dodgy aspects of the Miras...

    private albergues cancelling reservations

    Thanks everyone for your comments, I'm now more optimistic that the albergue that canceled my reservation made a genuine error and did their best to make sure that I had a place to sleep. In any case, my suspicions about a "bait and switch" are now well-documented here in case anyone has this...

    refusing disposable sheets in albergues?

    Has anyone tried refusing disposable sheets in albergues? (Or thought about it?) Eucalyptus isn't native to Spain and growing eucalyptus requires a lot of water and wrecks the soil for indigenous trees in Galicia. Eucalyptus forests are also a huge fire hazard. (see...

    private albergues cancelling reservations

    Has anyone had experiences with private accommodations canceling reservations? I'm fresh off the Camino Ingles. I stayed at public albergues the whole trip, except for the last two nights in Bruma and Siguero, where I booked a bed in a private albergue about a month before I started walking...

    Blistered to bits-need help!

    Can you switch out your footwear for sandals? If you don't have walking sandals (and can't borrow them), consider taking public transport to Decathlon in Vigo for walking sandals (and socks). Good luck!

    Food on less traveled Caminos

    Bread, manchego, small amount membrillo. If you are two people, a sandwich with tomatoes, an 80 g bag of arugula and a bit of balsamic syrup. The balsamic syrup can also be used to dress a salad with goat cheese at an albergue. The Carretilla microwave meals are not bad. The Ensalada de Quinoa...

    Walking dress recommendations?

    I have been walking in a knee-length skirt, with a long skirt for town in the evening or changing at the beach. I also have a pair of pants for cold days, rain, bugs or grass. I would pick a skirt over a dress because the shirts are interchangeable.

    Seeking advice re most scenic section of the Norte for a mish mash walk

    If you're already in San Sebastian, consider the segment Irun to Deba or Guernika. You could stay two nights in San Sebastian and take transit to Irun, then walk back to San Sebastian - that will save you carrying packs. There is also an alternative route between Zumaia and Deba along the coast...

    Vila do Conde to São Pedro de Rates

    I did the "aqueduct" route out of Vila do Conde in June 2023. I downloaded the gpx coordinates from the Dutch camino website and followed the route in the OSMand app. Compared to other days walking on roads, I didn't find the route especially bad or tedious. I also met a few other people who...
