My head is about to explode with questions & options

I've never considered any part of the Camino as must sees or skip ahead. Honestly that sounds like something from a tourist's guide for going on a prefab cruise vacation or something. I suggest you do your own research via guidebooks, apps, internet etc and decide what you want out of walking...

    1st Camino at 60

When you say Camino, I'm assuming you are referring to the Camino Frances. That being said, IMO you don't need to plan it using a tour group as it has enough infrastructure, and a tour group would limit any flexibility. You could actually prebook accommodations on your own if that's your main...

    Accommodation in Uterga

Ditto, I too have stayed there twice, and I found it to be clean, comfortable and had good food. I recommend it. I generally ignore reviews of albergues, especially any albergue that costs less than twenty or so dollars a night. I mean c'mon, twenty bucks a night (or less!). What do you want...

Do you set an “intention” for your Camino?

As a victim of being forced to attend a few of those motivational speaker and team building routines I can relate. I distinctly remember one where we had to do that old bit of "the floor is lava" and move about on planks or something. :D

Having warm clothes sent to Spain?

There are outdoor shops in St Jean, Zubiri, Pamplona, Puente de la Reina, Logrono, Burgos, Carrion de Los Condes, Leon and Sarria.

Do you set an “intention” for your Camino?

My main intention everyday walking the Camino is to do it safely and to remain healthy while doing so. Despite that intent I have experienced all the relatively minor injuries suffered by countless pilgrims while on the Camino, but I do my best to not. Another intention I have is to never...

From Catholic News Service: True Christian pilgrimages are rooted in silence, the Gospel, pope says

I think it's no secret and quite obvious that walking the Camino has become a bit of a fad for so many that do it, and I'll gladly take the barbs of judging others for saying that. I mean I've seen the pilgrims doing TikTok dancing videos while walking the Frances, I've seen the drone's buzzing...

Departing SJPDP May 21 - will I avoid the worse of the May bubble?

I say, sure why not? Though easy to educated guess it's still impossible to predict the pilgrim numbers. I walked last July through August and while I have done it before experiencing a fair amount of pilgrims on the last 100 kilometers or so, this past August the amount was like nothing I have...

    Ethics

Ditto....cellphone (or any electronic device, GPS, television etc.), backpack, shoes, clothing, sunglasses, sleeping bag and so on. If you look at the countries of origin you see that they are manufactured, mined etc. by people who indeed live marginally, low wages, long hours. Even foods such...

    Ethics

You are overthinking it, IMO. If one were to remove all the gold and other precious things and sell them that amount of money would, in relative terms, be a pittance and not solve any poverty or disparity in Spain or the world as a whole. Also, if all those extravagant displays bring in...

Tales of Being the Only Pilgrim in the Albergue

Though I may have experienced it more than once, the only lone pilgrim in the albergue experience I remember was when it happened to me the first time. It was a private albergue on the Frances somewhere between Pamplona and Logrono and it was late October. The living quarters were above the...

    Lightweight cooking Pot or Cup?

I think they are just a lingering byproduct of the pandemic.

    Lightweight cooking Pot or Cup?

I came across this one Amazon. I like its multiple purpose qualities which I find important on the Camino. Noodle bowl, soup bowl, cereal bowl and even tea and coffee cup, albeit a large one, but works nonetheless and a compromise from carrying multiple vessels.

    Lightweight cooking Pot or Cup?

On my most recent Camino Frances this past July-August I stayed in both private and public albergues and definitely saw more microwave ovens available in their kitchens than conventional stoves, though I did see a number of water boilers. For that reason I would say a microwaveable bowl, about...

    Yet another shoe question

Only you will be able to determine what your best choice in shoes for the Camino is. Make an educated guess on a pair that you think will work for you and then make several 10-kilometer walks in them. That's the only way of knowing.

Tips for wild/stealth camping along the camino?

When I was in college, I had a summer job with a building contractor working on commercial construction sites. I would come home from work every day absolutely covered in dirt, dust and sweat. Sometimes If I was assisting roofers, I would have tar mixed in. No way could I have simply wiped...

Tips for wild/stealth camping along the camino?

 Ummm, I know this is off subject but since you mentioned it I gotta ask.....how does your rare trips to the shower affect the significant other(s) in your life? My wife or even past girlfriends would have made an ultimatum, shower regular or goodbye :D

We worry about grams ... then there is Clara Wilkes ...

That's why I find it comical some of the almost irrational extremism of gram reducing done by some pilgrims walking the Camino. Drilling holes in toothbrush handles and tearing pages out of guidebooks. 😆 It's the Camino, not the north face. Medieval pilgrims walked it wearing heavy wool whilst...

Sleeping bag rating for the mountains in spring...

If you know someone who owns a spring/summer rated lightweight sleeping bag perhaps you can borrow it for the Camino.

Sleeping bag rating for the mountains in spring...

Since you'll be sleeping indoors and at times with a lot of fellow pilgrims in the room/dorm I suggest and would personally bring a warm weather sleeping bag and one that does not weigh more than about 680 grams. The quilt will work, and I wouldn't worry about it being infested by bedbugs.
