Hi all. I'm planning to walk a section of the VDLP in Oct or Nov next year (Seville-Caceres). Do albergues and other accommodation providers close up over the winter period? Is there a uniform closing date? TIA!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
It really depends on the albergue, some are open all year round. February 2014 I walked from Sevilla to Salamanca without a problem. I suggest you check out the Gronze website www.gronze.com It is in Spanish but has good maps and information regarding accommodations. @geraldkelly also has an app on the Plata which is in English. I used it this past summer and found it useful.

I walked starting in late October right after Spain opened from Covid, all the way to Santiago. I had no problems finding albergues. I did end up walking to Astorga as I was told a few times when I was approaching and in Salamanca that some albergues on the Sanabres had not even opened yet or were closing early and I may have really long stages of 20-35K which is not for me. But before that there were no problems at all.
You can't control when an albergue will close no matter what an app or Gronze.com says. It is at the whim of the owner or the town. So if you are concerned call the day before or send a whatsapp to confirm they will be open.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
