Hi all. I'm planning to walk a section of the VDLP in Oct or Nov next year (Seville-Caceres). Do albergues and other accommodation providers close up over the winter period? Is there a uniform closing date? TIA!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
It really depends on the albergue, some are open all year round. February 2014 I walked from Sevilla to Salamanca without a problem. I suggest you check out the Gronze website www.gronze.com It is in Spanish but has good maps and information regarding accommodations. @geraldkelly also has an app on the Plata which is in English. I used it this past summer and found it useful.

I walked starting in late October right after Spain opened from Covid, all the way to Santiago. I had no problems finding albergues. I did end up walking to Astorga as I was told a few times when I was approaching and in Salamanca that some albergues on the Sanabres had not even opened yet or were closing early and I may have really long stages of 20-35K which is not for me. But before that there were no problems at all.
You can't control when an albergue will close no matter what an app or Gronze.com says. It is at the whim of the owner or the town. So if you are concerned call the day before or send a whatsapp to confirm they will be open.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

I am looking at starting the VDLP the 1st week of March 2025. My plan is to start in Sevilla and walk to Astorga then back track and pick up the Sanabres to Santiago. I've got my gear weight down...
I hadn't realised there are thermal baths in Ourense. Looks like a few different ones. Are they worth a visit? Also, do you need to bring your own swimsuit? I carted swimming trunks all the way...
Having had the wonderful guidance from Nely on the Camino Mozarabe from Almeria, last year, I was wondering is there a similar Camino Angel in Seville for the Via de la Pláta?
Last winter I did the last 100KM of the Portugues between Christmas and New Year's. I enjoyed it a lot -- Spain definitely does this time of year right, and spending New Year's Eve in Santiago...
Good evening Can anyone tell me if albergues are open into November on the via de la Plata and onto the Frances , I will be starting in Seville on October the 3rd, will I run into problems...
