you probably want to end in Uclés. careful, It's going to be hot, really hot.
i used: https://www.pilgrim.es/camino-de-ucles/ and the tracks on wikiloc. however, signage is great and hard to get lost as you walk long stages on a vía verde prepared for bikes.
i do not think there is much pilgrim accommodation. you may be stuck staing at local pensiones and hotels. i was able to shuttle back home using public transport (lots and frequent until you leave madrid autonomous community).
double check the monastery is open when you arrive. they have odd opening times and frequently close for events.
july is hot, you may want to consider another month if you can.

Tara -

I'm planning to walk the week after Easter in mid- to later April 2025 from Uclés to Madrid. Manuel, who seems to run the Camino de Uclés, has been helpful with information. The big issue is accommodations, and it sounds like some things are still in process, so I am hopeful there will be more places to stay by next Spring. I will probalby contact Manuel again in late winter/early Spring for the latest updates. I assume you have the guide linked earlier in this thread. It looks like a fun camino.

I think there are a few of us in contact with the very helpful Manuel. I’ve bought one of everything he’s selling, so might as well use it.

To do the route as the C de Ucles - so ending in Ucles - is the obvious intent; otherwise it’s more properly regarded as the start of a C de Santiago, continuing logically via the C de Madrid.

I’m probably going to opt for the latter as the public transport options to Ucles rely on one mid-day minibus for the last connection and accommodation in Ucles is limited to the one upmarket hotel. My preference is to get the restrictions out of the way on Day 1.

From about half-way one gets into the better transport and accommodation area around Madrid.

My slight reservation is that the route follows established cycle-tracks and - if the first few days of the C de Madrid are a guide - I suspect weekends will see the Madrilleno cycling community out in force and at speed.

The Wikiloc track is by Rafa Cortegana and is logically titled ‘Camino Santiago desde Ucles’

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I walked Madrid to Uclés, and it went well. I also think it's nicer to arrive to a small town like Uclés.

Thankyou both to @henrythedog and @MesaWalker walker for your answers - very helpful. I'll get in contact with Manuel as well :) sounds like the best thing to do.
Cheers,
Tara

For anyone who has been in Uclés, is the monastery out of town? Is the distance from the bus station in Uclés to the monastery walkable? If not, are there taxis available?

We´re planning to take the bus from Cuenca to Uclés, see the monastery in the late afternoon, and then start walking toward Madrid the next morning.

Thanks!
