Polarsteps is great for sharing your adventures.
If it's precise geographical location, googlemaps location sharing will do just fine. Garmin (if you use one of their devices) and Strava also have that functionality. It's called safety beacon...

I always use Vodafone. It's very cheap and offers a lot of data. There are a few shops in San Sebastian. Make sure they bring their passports with them and that their phone is unlocked.
