Myself and my sister have recently returned after walking from Porrino to Santiago de Compastela the second week in June. I just want to say what a wonderful experience it was for us both. We met with nothing but kindness from all we encountered on our walk, fellow walkers (including Olivier from Germany and Regina and her companions from New Zealand) and all the wonderful people working in the hostals, cafes, shops and restaurants. It was a truly refreshing, uplifting and spiritual experience to be walking through such beautiful countryside and absorbing all that nature has to offer. The route was marked really well once you kept alert to signs so didn't get lost once, except one day we were taking a slight wrong turn and we were kindly alerted by a whistle from a local man out walking! Was somewhat difficult when we reached Santiago itself to find directions to the Cathederal. (but maybe we went off track in the city itself) All our accomodations were perfect and a much welcome sight each day at the end of our walk. Our walk was much enhanced by the wonderful service provided by Correos.com who transferred our luggage each day to next accomodation. We so admired all you walkers who carry all your luggage yourselves but owing to back issues both of us were unable to do so. We are so grateful for the Camino and it's spirit.

Would you explain how luggage transport by correos.com works? Were you on the Frances? Or one of the other Caminos?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Thanks for the correos link. If you were on the Camino Frances, is there some reason you didn't use Jacotrans or any of the other readily available backpack transport services?

Correos was available and cheap
late October 2015 when after my final fall they transported the backpack from Najera to Santo Domingo de La Calzada. The cost was 4 euros and the service was great; one can book via a smartphone/ text message in English.

Good luck and Buen camino!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
