Hello fellow pilgrims,
Starting on the Primitivo tomorrow ! I would be interested for any particularly excellent albergue recommendations along the route. Those special ones we all experience once in a while ! and remember forever.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Sol. There are several threads on this however the search function is currently not operating properly, Ivar is working on it at the moment. Once it's back up and running I'll have a look and link a thread or two for you.
My personal favourite is Bodenaya, however staging can make that awkward and you need to remember it's closed on Saturdays. I'm not sure how much longer they're open - last year they closed mid October.

TBH, Sol, everything depends on what's still open. Do you have access to Wise Pilgrim, Buen Camino, and/ or Gronze? I would absolutely call each place the say before , to verify.

Bodenaya lists as closed on Saturdays. I "think" Samblisimo is closed again. Albergue Los Hospitales in Colinas de Arriba lists as being open until 15 Nov. Albergue a Pociña de Muñiz (Vilar de Cas) advises calling ahead during winter.

I can recommend a private donativo in La Espina (El Cruce ), and Albergue El Aleman in Boente ( lists as closing Oct 31st).

Buen Camino.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
My favourite albergues on the Primitivo were La Quintana in Grado, los hopitales in colinas d’ariba (perfect place to stay before doing the hopitales section) and Porta da Grandas in Grandas da Salime

I will just add La Casita de Aba in Pola de Allande and the Albergue Lecer in Sobrado.

I really enjoyed the municipal in Grado but it might be closed for the season now. Check. It was modern, with nice facilities, and truly lovely hospitaleros who had snacks on hand for check-in)...
The monastery required that I take only 11 K from Grado on the second day, but it was worth it to me to be able to visit the chapel, and the dorms/showers were very modern and the kitchen facilities generous for making supper.
ON a previous Primitivo I stayed at Casa Sueno in Salas and that was just *lovely* -- the albergue dorm is geothermal, built into the side of a hill, and the hotel side is "low impact" for environmental energy use. Excellent food and a lovely host!
The Casa Rural at Cadavo is great -- private rooms, communal supper... generous hosts and comfortable surroundings.

I loved Hostal Porton in Lugo, just a few steps from the cathedral.

Santiago, the host, is lovely (he also speaks English well in case that's important to you) and the albergue is clean and new. It looks a bit rugged on the outside, but the inside is new and modern.

Also liked the municipal in Fonsagrada very much.

Thank you Peter, I had thought it strange there wasn’t an existing thread. Shame that Bodenaya won’t work with the days, sounds great.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Sorry I haven't had the time to do a proper search ( I know the question was asked and loads of information put forward but I simply can't find it, it must be a subsection of a different thread).

It would appear that you have received pretty much all of the relevant information above anyway, I'm sure if anybody thinks we've missed anything they'll chip in.

I loved the Primitivo, enjoy!

Hi Sol, my favourite albergue of the Primitive way was the albergue of Bodenaya, friendly hospitalero, homley atmosphere and the evening meal is cooked and served to the group, helping generate a great sense of community! I also liked: the albergue de peregrinos Villa de Grado and the albergue de peregrinos in Castroverde.
