I lost a kindle in Orisson about 10 days ago. I emailed them and they found it! I volunteered to pay to have it mailed to me in the U.S. They replied” a special society” will contact you for its return! They have not answered any of my further questions about who or what this society is! Sounds like I’m getting patronized! Anyone know how I might proceed?

I’d probably resign myself to buying a new kindle.

Hi @Nwalker, I've never done this myself but I know for certain that you can place an order with DHL for example so that they will pick up your Kindle at Orisson's address and send it to your address in the USA.

I had a look on the DHL website: You would have to pay about €80. All that the Orisson people have to do is putting your Kindle safely into a small box.

Are you communicating in English or in French with Orisson? If in writing, try to use simple sentences in either language. BTW, Orisson does not have hospitaleros. They are a registered business and have paid staff and my guess is that they all live in France. Best of luck!

A refurbished Kindle from Amazon would cost less than the shipping though (unless it is a Paperwhite version).

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Lucky you!
I think you’ll get an answer after the high season of their business.

I don't believe there are any "american" volunteers working at Orisson, it is family owned and operated albergue.

I reckon you should write the kindle off and get a new one. Go to the Amazon site and de-register the lost one, your content will still be available for your new one.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Are you sure they actually found it? If so, then just be patient. It’s only been a week & a half since you lost it. When was their last email to you?
