In June 2024, 36 pilgrims took part in the Tall Ships Camino Ingles – including:-

Walking a short pilgrim route in the UK finishing at Fowey, Cornwall

Sailing in a tall ship from Fowey to A Coruña in Northern Spain

Walking the Camino Ingles from A Coruña to Santiago



This voyage is now being repeated in 2025, for which there are two planned sailing dates, in May and September.

I had to poke around a bit... there's a May journey, and a September one.

Yes - they say 7 to be on the safe side
This year only took 5 days as weather was kind

I wonder how feasible this would be for someone who would have to get from North America to England... like if bad weather were to mean that the trip couldn't happen... a local person could return home easily and take a deferred start date I suppose.
@nedspencer can you comment on that? I would love to gift this adventure to my sailing-loving spouse (I, alas, become sea-sick on a little ferry ride from downtown Vancouver to the North Shore). My concern is that something similar to Hurricane Kirk (early October 2024) could delay or cancel the trip, and a person travelling from North America has little opportunity to wait it out...

People from US took part this year

No one can predict the weather

But personally I don’t think you can decide not to do things on that basis

Sea sickness can be avoided. People who sailed on Morgenster this year will be able to give advice

This is really interesting, and tempting.

As walking from A Coruña is less than 100 km, am I right in assuming that the short pilgrim route in the UK would be accepted by the Pilgrims' Office in Santiago as being part of the Camino Inglés in order to obtain the Compostela?

My darling and I are distance challenged slow walkers, and our stages are typically an average of 15 km a day. Can we walk our own stages, or do we walk set stages both in Cornwall and in Galicia?

Santiago cathedral have told us that mileage covered sailing counts towards your Compostella. Participants this year received theirs even if not walking In Cornwall

There will be no set mileage for you to walk - you can walk (Cornwall & Galicia) at your own pace. So long as you don’t miss the ship departure!!

Would a Camino credenciale be recognized in the UK? Would we get a stamp from Fowey to show we sailed from there?

I noticed that this year you had a group on this journey, looking at the photos in the Tregaminion church, and the matching T-shirts . Was that just for the sailing, or did all the participants walk together to Santiago? Will you be organising a similar group for next year's departures?

Are next year's sailings one-off events, or are they likely to become a regular feature? I guess it depends on demand.

There will be people from this year’s trip involved in 2025 and can advise on all aspects of the pilgrimage - yes you can get a stamp in Fowey

This sounds like the real thing for UK pilgrims who will be embarrassed that the UK Camino from Reading does NOT join with the Inglis but takes you to Santander to walk the Norte.

This one is far more adventurous and in fact my UK Pilgrim Book says the walk from Padstow IS a pilgrim walk called The Cornwall Saint's Walk (27 miles 3 days) and of course ends in the amazing Fowey famous in particular for the "Daphne de Maurier" Festival which in 2025 seems to coincide with the May sailing date for this boat.

Yes I am very interested but unfortunately at 80 and in Australia with a "dickey heart" I share with a pig I am not about to be interested in person.

But I have already made a Web-App for Inglis part and "as we speak" I am making one for the Padstow to Fowey pilgrim section (the sea bit will be easy).

In fact this sounds a bit like my 2015 adventure on the Thames on the Tranquil Rose with similar tiny cabins but great food. Pity those days are over (for me and Tranquil Rose).

So congratulations (as a Boomer) on trying to drag the Millennials kicking and screaming to a bit of adventure (on land and sea).
