Rental car from Santiago to Porto

Hope I am posting at the right place -- five of us will complete the Camino and plan to rent a car, drive to Tui, then drop off the car there, and walk aross the bridge to Vanlensa and pick up a Portugaul rental car then drive to Porto. Does anyone have similar experience? Rent a car at Santiago and drop off at Porto is expensive as it is crossing different countries ( Spain to Portugal). That is why we need to switch rental cars, but not sure if we could drop off the Spanish rental car at Tui, then pick up a Portugal rental car at Valensa.
Thanks for your help!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
You might be better taking a taxi for the first stage. When you get to Tui, walk across to Valenca and get the train to Porto. Plenty of trains from Valenca to Porto each day. And it's a wonderful journey,

Despite the fact that Europe is a common market for many goods, that's not the fact insurance-wise.

That's why it's costly to cross the border with a rental car, very different regulations, you pay two different insurances. Most rental companies deny leaving homecountry totally.

You may try vmtransfers.com, but the bus (flixbus or alsa/Monbus would be my go-to, if I want to get from SdC to Porto (done it twice).

Thanks everyone for the quick responses and valuable suggestions! I will discuss the options with my adult children, I had travelled from Santiago to Porto a few times and I always take the bus options.
Thanks very much again!

Why don't you take one of the many Alsa buses, comfortable, stress-free and above all inexpensive?
