Time of past OR future Camino
June 27th
Good morning from sunny Ireland, I'm starting camino norte on July 25th. Start walking on 26th irun to san sebastian but unfortunately I can't find accommodation in San sebastian. 26th july Is a Friday night. I'm thinking maybe to stop before that as I'm walking with my 12 year old daughter. Shes done the camino portuguese and plays football so very fit but it still might be too long for the first day. Any suggestions appreciated

€60,-
Gronze.com shows availability. Cheapest is Downtown River Hostal, which is a nice place.IMG_1556.png

The other alternative is to overshoot San Sebastian using public transport to find more affordable accomodation. The train/bus back the next day. You may have to do the same at Deba.

Euskotren is the rail company between the border and Bilbao. After that it is Renfe/FEVE

San Sebastian is a foodie heaven with Michelin starred restaurants. If you are not into that, then move on. Plenty of nice beaches coming up later so you can miss one too.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
There are some options on Gronze.com
I would call or whatsapp the places that you may want to stay at. Use a translator if you don't have good Spanish skills. Just because the prices on Bookings are sky high or show no availability calling directly and letting them know you are a pilgrim will in many cases lower your price for beds. Try it you may be very pleasantly surprised. San Sebastian is a beautiful and popular seaside destination and prices reflect it. Especially because you are arriving on a weekend. You may have issues in seaside towns all along the Norte, especially weekends and popular tourist locations as so many Spaniards flock to the North Coast for holiday.
