Just read this yesterday as well. I'm excited to hear as I resided in Barcelona for a few years - the restaurant is extraordinary for sure. For those unfamiliar, Disfrutar is a short walk from Placa de Catalunya so very central.
 
Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I had the good fortune to eat at el Bulli shortly before it closed in 2011 and was able to have a drink with Ferran Adria that night. I am very surprised that Arzak along with a long list of other places in San Sebastian did not make this list. San Sebastian is by far the best restaurant scene in all of Spain.
 
...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Yeah at almost €300pp it better be.... and I just can't help but to think that I am consuming about 3-weeks' worth of Menu Peregrinos\del Dias and that thought would absolutely distract from any 'extraordinaire' ....

Its in Eixample so a good 25mins walk from PdC. Of course Barca is a lovely city to walk...
(seems about the same from MACBA and 30 mins from La Sagrada)
Maybe I'll just walk there, walk by and do "an Audrey Hepburn" ;)

Just get a sello from the restaurant so that the Pilgrims' Office know that you have not been assigned the Camino as a penance, but undertake it in a spirit of joy and thanksgiving.
I wonder what they charge for a sello without first patronizing the restaurant and ordering a meal...or at least an orujo or two? 😂😉

Best dining experience in my life was many years ago in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, on my motorcycle. Long day riding and it had gotten dark -- no towns or lights in sight and it was getting colder and colder. I was exhausted, shivering and more than a little depressed. But a flicker of light caught my eye along the road. It was a tiny, one-room, mud-brick "restaurant" with no electricity -- the only light was from an open fireplace. Staffed by three giggling Oaxacan indian girls the entire menu consisted of frijoles soup and hot chocolate, both served in clay cups. Sat by the warm fire and had the best dining experience ever in my life. More than 50 years later I still remember the feeling. You can have your Michelin stars. Context is everything.

In nearly the same time frame as you describe, although in 1979, I was in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico, having brought down a generator to a clinic in need. We stayed nearly a week and all of the food was amazing. I remember thinking "so this is what real Mexican food tastes like!" I've yet to have it duplicated in any restaurant in the USA I've eaten at.

I've been following your most recent walk on VDLP. I'm planning to do a small (120km) in September. Do you know anything about the weather that time of year on VDLP? I am only planning on 15-18 km per day, starting in Ourense. Do you have any suggestions? I am 73 and healthy but worried about walking more than 12 miles a day. I was considering using "Santiago Ways" to plan the trip...do you know anything about what they offer? Sorry to bother you with so many questions but your experiences seem wonderful!

Hi Jill,
Thank you for the nice compliment on my recent Sanabres portion of the VdlP. I will be of little additional help beyond my "Live on the Camino" thread which you have already seen. I had a variety of weather ranging from sunny, cold, to rainy, to quite warm towards the end, but thankfully no snow!
There will be many others who can also help with any questions you have. Also, check out the Gronze app to get familiar with the Sanabres, and happy planning! 🙂
