My daughter has lost a white Samsung phone on the Camino Frances. The phone was in a back case and last seen in Roncesvalles on the 25th May and discovered lost when we got to Zubiri.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I hope that the phone is found. Definitely use the steps in the link that @K_Lynn provided to locate the phone.

I know that it's no help to you now, but I do a couple of things to keep from losing my phone.
First, I use this type of lanyard that attached my phone to my crossbody bag. It could also be attached to a waist pack, backpack strap, belt loop, etc.

Secondly, my lock screen has my email address andemergency contact information.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I bought a phone case with a lanyard after seeing people wandering around in Madrid and Barcelona wearing their phones that way. It's now my Camino and holiday idiot string that keeps my phone attached to me and has the bonus of when I am wandering in knee deep water trying to take pictures of jellyfish I don't have to worry about dropping my phone in the water :D

I really should have contact information on my home screen. That's an excellent idea.

Add a paper version between the case and the phone also in case the battery dies before the phone is found.

Edit: A few years ago I found an iPhone on the Camino Aragonese that was almost out of power. The screen had enough information to assume that the phone belonged to a Catalan but nothing more; there was nothing behind the case. I charged it up so it could get calls but none came. I passed it on to a Spanish pilgrim going all the way to Santiago and he made calls to albergues ahead looking for a Catalan pilgrim. The Spaniard made it to SdC but never found the phone's owner.

Here's the phone as found.

Lost stuff

These are few things you can do to help you stop losing gear and also have it returned to you if you do leave it behind.

1. Try to putting things together when you stop for a rest.

2. Try to put thing on the side you are leaving from. For example if you are on a bus or train put you poles, bags on the aisle side.

3. When ever you leave a place also have a mum’s look around to make sure you have not left anything.

4. Label everything with your name and email address.

  1. For large items like backpacks, hand or bumbags or even your pets apple air tags help you track down lost stuff.
