Useful website for route information

I found the following website useful for planning my stages. It has stage distances and walking times and notes on things to see each day. There are also rudimentary maps and elevation profiles. The whole le Puy route is divided into 6 sections. The link below is for section 1 (le Puy to Aumont Aubrac):

This is a commercial site selling tours and I apologise if anyone objects to such "commercialism" here, but I thought the information might be useful to others planning to walk this route. It gives some ideas on costs and connections to/from the various start and end points.

It is a useful supplement to the MMD guidebook, which does not cover things to see or route information.

There are also links to other pilgrimage routes as well.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I used a few walking tour sites to help me plan my days as well Bob (and then ignored it all once I had started walking!)
I just noticed the altitude chart for Week 2 on this site is a bit wonky: it doesn't appear to show the real altitude of the Aubrac Plateau!

I am sure it will be the same with me as well. I would much prefer to just walk - and stop for the day as the spirit moves me, without having to book accommodation ahead for each night.

I like to have a smattering of historical/cultural background on the route, but I have decided not to buy an extra guidebook. MMD and my notes will have to suffice. I have my IGN (F) "camera maps". They are usable but far from ideal.

BTW the various comments on accommodation in other threads were extremely useful to me and I will want to stay at many of the same gites as well. They are all in my notes!

Anyway, I am off on Friday and will start walking on July 21. I just noticed that the Tour de France will have been through Rodez a few days before I arrive there to get the bus to Conques.

All the best

Buen Camino Bob, While we freeze here in the south you will be getting some lovely hot weather. This is a very beaurtiful way and I know that you will enjoy just putting one foot in front of the other, while looking at the wonderful things that surround you. All the best, Janet

In a much less busy year in May and June, we set out with the intention of stopping where the mood dictated. After a few days, we were booking ahead, usually about 3 days. Accommodations are more limited than on the Camino Frances, and we discovered that our will and energy level at the end of the day were insufficient to be comfortable wandering around looking for a bed. Spontaneity is great, but can be a luxury. Don't hesitate to plan ahead when it seems to be the best alternative.

I'm starting the Le Puy in early July hopefully. In my efforts to communicate with the gite owners, I am using email as my French is almost non existent. I'm getting lots of replies outlining...
I am trying to find a Mobile App that can help me find trails from Le puy Valley to Cahors. Would appreciate good advice and guidance.
Sorry I have been too tired to post anything. Here is a very brief summary and a few pics. Le Puy to Figeac - 250 km approx - 14 days - average 17.8 km per day (top speed for me 😂) Beautiful...
