private albergue in Logrono that can be booked in advance

sun is shining

Active Member
Hey all,

the time for our camino is coming closer and closer! It´s only six more weeks until I can exchange rain and gray skies with sunny Spain and loads of walking :)

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a private albergue or casa rural in Logrono? I would need to book in advance as we will arrive late in the evening from Santander. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

Loads of thanks and happy walking!

I stayed at Ventosa - the dorms are a bit small and cramped and can be very stuffy if no one wants a window open, but lovely hospiteleros, nice kitchen, great atmosphere and they wake you up at 6.00 am with piped Gregorian chants. They also keep a small shop so you can buy things to cook for your meal. It is well worth the slight detour.

Just finished my Camino. I believe the private albergue in Ventosa that Jennysa mentions is San Saturnino. I stayed here with my daughter, and it was lovely! If you plan on leaving early in the morning, as we did to beat the heat, be sure to purchase any necessities from their shop the night before. They don't unlock it until 6:30, and from what I remember, you have about a 9km stretch without amenities leaving Ventosa.

With regard to Logrono, it is a rather large city. I wasn't feeling well that night, so we opted for a hotel. The exact name escapes me, but I am certain it was two leters...F&G??, right over the bridge as the Way enters the city. It was the best 59Euro (for a double) that we spent on the Camino!

I still have my laminated Ventosa bookmark. It sits in one of the prayer books I use in worship.

As you leave Ventosa you pass a bar. A good place to eat at night but unlikely to be open early in the morning. Hence the wise comment about getting some supplies.

Make sure you detour to the Najera albergue and get a photo of you walking next to the medieval pilgrim. You'll understand when you get there.

Ryanair run flights to Reus. A bus goes from the airport to the train station and the train goes to Logrono, Burgos and a few other places. Depending where you live in the UK a possible alternative, though too late for sunny.

Finally, I have walked through some lovely rain in September. You will experience lots of sunshine, but don't expect it to be there everyday. You're English, you'll have plenty of weather to talk about. :D
