My friend is currently on the Camino Portuguese - a route that he has walked before and has now seen a number of markings as below. What does the Red Cross out signify? 1713187944370.jpeg

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Thanks I will ping him - PR as opposed to Camino 👍

Yup..

I edited my post to add, The yellow arrow means it's the camino the Santiago, the red and yellow X mean other hikers should not follow this route.

Earlier on my camino there were even more confusing markers. A yellow tile was for the camino de Santiago, and a blue tile was another route. Someone i met genuinely thought it was solidarity for Ukraine.

Yes blue is generally for Fatima I understand but I like your alternative suggestion 😂😂

The top marker is from a GR route, one of the long distance trails throughout countries in Europe. Some are transnational, and a few share the same route as various caminos. But they don't always. So in this instance, the GR route does not follow the camino route at this point. On the CF, one is likely to see the GR 65 markers where the routes coincide. I don't recall which GR route comes up from Portugal.

It was to hot and confusing to get out of Lisbon yesterday so we decided to get a bus to Porto and will start our walk from there tomorrow
