Madrid perhaps, and take regional airlines to Porto and from Santiago back to Madrid.

We flew into Madrid and took an EasyJet flight to Lisbon. We took a couple of days to look around and enjoy Lisbon and then Fatima. After this we took a train to Porto. Our flight from Las Vegas to Madrid was on Norwegian. Bom Caminho!

When I did this in 2015, I flew into Lisbon, then took the metro from the airport to the Oriente train station. From there, I took a train, 3-hours north to Porto.

The scenery is wonderful. The trains are modern, clean, well maintained and on time.

I think there are also buses from the airport to the train station, but I found the metro easier. It is modern, cheap, and fast.

Hope this helps.

In May In flying from Phx to Lisbon through London. Spending 3 days in Lisbon then train to Porto. I will fly home from Madrid. Trains are a fun way to get around.

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
