Hi Kanga it was the third Dale we had walked over in the day and that path gave you no indication of the view when you reached the top. Thank you for your comments.@pilgrim b Oh my, how beautiful is that!
Hi Sabine , it's indeed diffecult to make a choice.@Peter Fransiscus : Enjoy it to the fullest, you traveller.
I see you visited chocolatier Dominique Persoone..njommie njommie..Especially the choccies with piment d' Espelette or the ones with sake or the ones with fried onion or or...
We had a nice walk around a lake off about 8km.
No , it was the Piller See at the other side off the mountains at Fieberbrun.Hey Peter, just curious: would that lake be Schwarzsee, near Kitzbühel? If it is, that would be a funny coincidence, because that is where I will be in 3 months time...
Our weather is still spectacular and I was so inspired by my trek last week that I set off again today - same Garibaldi area but this time to the alpine meadows at the base of Black Tusk. Caught a bit of wild life this time - that black blob is a bear feeding up on blueberries for his upcoming hibernation.
Maybe some day, weather permitting, a trot around the Bog of Frogs loop? Just let me know. My trot takes a while though, about 3 and a half hours. It's a while since I've looked at this thread - such a pleasure to flick through everyone's photos. A vicarious walking trip around the world before my breakfast! Thanks everyone for sharing - and special thanks to @kirkie for bringing back memories of my home turf.
That sounds good - I love that walk. I'm snowed under with work at the moment (post-camino backlog!), but will hopefully see light at the end of that tunnel soon.Maybe some day, weather permitting, a trot around the Bog of Frogs loop? The weather is very nice indeed.Left the house on this glorious autumn day. 23 Celsius. Heaven.

Oh! How beautiful. In the goodness of creation, the original author, by analogy, is seen....I walked to New Zealand’s tallest tree, which - wouldn’t you know it! - is an Australian eucalypt! Thrilled to see four different native birds I’ve never seen before too.
Then a quick walk to Tunnel Beach.

@Kiwi-family is not an Aussie, @Purky .The Ozzies are very fond of their big things.
Sorry, Purky, I took what you said in the wrong way.In that light I find it amusingly fortuitous when you learn that New Zealand’s tallest tree is in fact an Australian eucalypt.
Sorry, Purky, I took what you said in the wrong way.
Yeah, it's definitely a delicious irony!
Well that was me. Mea culpa - and thank you for your good humor about it.(until someone misplaces a tree)
it’s nice to see this little miscommunication get cleared up so kindly
In my mind there was never even a shadow of a doubt that this little miscommunication wouldn't get cleared up quick and elegant. After reading many of the posts of VNwalking I am of the opinion she is kindness incarnate.
After a spate of nasty interactions earlier this year it’s nice to see this little miscommunication get cleared up so kindly.

Ahhhh, you are all the best. It's not me, it's us. That's what keeps it civil here.Even more : this sharing place is nothing but kindness.
Already looking forward to starting the 2018 thread.

I've hiked several times decades ago to visit what was then identified as the tallest tree in the world, a coastal redwood (368 feet/112 meters.) The top has fallen off since and the location of the new tallest tree is being kept secret. There is a new trail to the Tall Trees Grove where the tree stands with others nearly as tall. This trail is a bit longer than a mile starting from an old logging road and so the grove gets a fair number of visitors now. But then you had to hike 8 miles up Redwood Creek to see it. On my second visit I was the only one there. Just as I reached the spot where the grove was in sight across the creek I heard long crashing noises followed by more crashing noises like you might hear in a cartoon and then, because the redwoods have tall trunks before the limbs start, I was able to see a limb the size of a small tree fall dozens of feet to the ground. A wonderful backcountry experience.I walked to New Zealand’s tallest tree, which - wouldn’t you know it! - is an Australian eucalypt!
