Camino Portugues (2014)
Hi everyone!
We decided to do Camino Portugues this year ( about 110-150 km). As we come from a country without sea we would like to do this way along the coast and enjoy the sea and the fresh air of Atlantic ocean.
We have maximum one week (7-8 days) to do this way and we try to arrange our peregrination.. Please, would it be possible to start this way in Porto and then take a bus to Arcade or Pontevedra and continue the route from this city?
We also think about going from A Guarda to Santiago directly- Do you have some experience with this route? Is it well-marked/albergues??
If you have some other advice how to do this camino mostly along the coast, please let us know!
Thank you very much for every reply!

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
Walking from A Guarda is a nice idea . . Nice walk alongside the waterline ,almost up to Pontevedra.

Look at the forum camino Portuges /coastal for all your questions

Bom caminho

A Guarda to Santiago would be a great choice ... It's a gorgeous walk along the coast from there to Vigo (with some fine stretches of sandy beach too!) then you turn inland a bit to join the main route in Redondela. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for all your replies!!!
And please, what is the easiest way to get to A Guarda from Lisbon/Porto?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
And what do you think, 7-8 days, is it enough from A Guarda to Santiago de Compostela?

The best way is to get from Porto to Caminha. There is a (slow ?) railwaylink. Take from there the ferry to Aguarda. It might be in july that the ferry sails again but try to find it on the internet. Otherwise there will be a 25 kms detour around the river Miño

Vigo Bus Station

See the information for ATSA bus (not ALSA). If I'm reading the schedule right the bus goes from Vigo to Guarda via Tui. ATSA does not have a website.

Renfe operates a train from Valenca to Vigo that stops at Tui.

Otherwise use CP trains or Autna buses from Porto to Vigo then take an ATSA bus to Guarda.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
