Walking backwards Sarria to Samos & train to Ourense

I got tired of waiting for flights to reduce in price, it seems they are not going in that direction in Australia, so finally I have booked my flight to Madrid with a view to starting in Burgos on 21 May in 2025. I will be walking to Sarria and then stop as I don't feel the "need" to push on to Santiago de Compostela (I have walked the Portuguese before).
On the way to Sarria I am walking via Montan to stay at Albergue Terra de Luz, but would like to visit Samos as well.
Would someone be able to tell me if I can walk backwards from Sarria to the Monastery at Samos and stay one night, then walk back to Sarria the following day. From there I have a few free days until I need to get back to Madrid, and considering a stop at Ourense.

Join Camino Cleanup: Logroño to Burgos May 2025 and Astorga to O'Cebreiro in June.
I don´t see why there should be any problem there. It would have to be a very officious hospitalero to say no to allowing you to stay at Samos.

Ourense is a pleasant enough place to stay, and you could walk a section of the Sanabrés.

I know what you mean about the flights from Oz, tell me about it!

Yeah ended up with flight to Madrid with Cathay Pacific for just over $2000 (booking direct rather than through Skyscanner and third party agents). A couple of years ago you would never have paid that much, but it has been a dream since returning from the Portuguese Camino (after which I swore I would never again lol), so I sucked it up.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

As to your ticket from Australia, if I knew which way ticket prices were going in the future, I would've retired earlier from the airline industry. I may be speaking out of turn, since I have never flown to or from Australia. It may be the case (and you'll have to read the fine print) that your ticket is not refundable, but maybe exchangeable. In other words since Covid some airlines in the US give flight credit not refunds if your flight fare lowers before departure, unless you bought a basic economy seat. You'll probably have to fight for it. But do stay on top of it. I suspect closer to departure time, unless your flight is sold out, there may be price fluctuations.

In Australia the closer to departure the more expensive the flight. There is not really such a thing as "last minute". My sister in England has the opposite where flights become cheaper the closer to departure as the airlines want to fill seats. For example if I wanted to fly out next week on Cathay Pacific at economy only, the cost would be over $8000!!! Unless I wanted to fly China Eastern and take over 40 hours to save a couple of hundred dollars!!! But I do digress
