Vicarie Pro - more than one person?

Hi, I'm arriving in Santiago soon and was walking the Camino in memory of my parents who recently passed. Does anyone know if the office will allow more than one person to be added as "vicarie pro?"

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I can’t help you with the specific question, but can confirm that the ‘vicarie pro …’ annotation is simply added by hand, not printed.

In practical terms you are dedicating your Compostela to another so you might find a simple solution, especially if you know someone with excellent handwriting.

If the Pilgrim's Office doesn't, roll by the Church of St Francis ( walk to the end of the street, turn right, walk up to the next Church on the left). They offer a certificate that you may inscribe yourself if you show them your completed credencial. Consider a donation.20240101_194521.jpg

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I found it quite difficult to arrange and had trouble hunting someone who knew how to deal with it, as the online registration is how they manage things these days. You still need to do the online registration, it doesn't give you an option for Vicarie Pro, and yes unfortunately it does just get added by hand.
Just be prepared to take a little longer.
Or you can do as recommended and get someone to add it in using calligraphy to match the printed name..

I wrote it down for my volunteer at the Pilgrim's Office on a scrap piece of paper; he dutifully inscribed it below my name. It helps to have decent printing skills.

Yes, you can ask for your compostela to be dedicated to two or more people. Pilgrims will often ask for both their parents names to be added, for instance.

In practical terms, and from my own experience of writing them for pilgrims, three is about the limit that will fit neatly in the given space, without making the compostela look cluttered.

Some staff and volunteers are better than others at matching their added handwriting with the printed font, but please accept they will do their best.

Thanks for the information. Got it added today, but the person doing it seemed super grumpy and annoyed at having to do it. Maybe it was just busy or he was having a bad day, but it was done!

I'm sorry that your experience wasn't so good, but it's impossible to please everyone. And with the atrocious weather of the past few days, we've had our share of weary, frusrated and soaked pilgrims trudging in with shredded credencials, washed away stamps, all of that. It's a challenge for all concerned.. and tomorrow will be the same.

But I'm happy for you, you got your compostela, well done.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
