Viana Reduced Capacity Municipal Albergue

Time of past OR future Camino
Most recent: Fall 2023 Aragonés, Frances
A heads up that for at least another week, and possibly longer, there are only 8 beds available each day at the Albergue de peregrinos Andrés Muñoz in Viana. Usual capacity is 46 beds. They are renovating.

The albergue opens at noon - I arrived at 11:30 today and was 7th in line. Phewf!! So many more disappointed people arrived in the next half hour. 46 beds would have filled quickly!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

Wow. You are fast! Did you jump ahead back to the CF from Jaca? More than one albergue in Viana is undergoing renovation. I think the parochial is as well.

😁 I continued on the Frances at Puente la Reina. I just haven’t caught up with my Aragonés posts yet.
Yes, the parochial is currently closed in Viana.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
There should be at least one other albergue in Viana- Albergue Izar- which was open when I stayed there this past July (and gronze shows as currently open). It's a private albergue and a bit more expensive than than the municipal, but it has a well-stocked kitchen and open rooftop space for hanging out; I had no complaints!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
