Hi, does anyone know how one can get the boat in the opposite direction? That is: from Pontecesures to Vilanova da Arousa? Is there a telephone number one can call, or an email address?

I used the same number that @Tincatinker has ~ connecting to Alberto at the albergue in Vilanova de Arousa. The boat ride can be booked through him.

I'd say that's very weather depending. A cold, rainy October reduces the pilgrim count in Santiago rather fast. If it's a sunny October & November the drop might be in late November. If the number of people on the main route is higher, there should be more people on the alternative routes as well.
Around the catholic feast of November 1st, Santiago becomes still busy. So at October 28/29 there is a good chance for enough pilgrims.

I found an information from 2017, stating that the boat was not moving every day between mid November to March 23 (= a week before easter), but for larger groups it was still available.

I assume something similar applies again in 2019.

My guess is that the minimum passenger number does not apply for the return route; I presume that the boat must always return to Vilanova de Arousa regardless of the passenger count.
