My son and I are planning to do the last stage from Sarria. What is the latest information with regard to bus transport from Santiago to Sarria ? As we also want to visit Barcelona, should we still rather travel by air from and to Barcelona than by train ?

Sonnie and Frederik Jansen

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

I have just joined and intend to fly Dublin to Santiago de Compostela but then need to get to my starting point SARRIA. This seems to be a common question
but what is the answer and how long does it take? Tuesday 15th April 2014 arrive aer lingus 15.35. Is there a link at the airport to Sarria?

Thanks falcon 269 but would you know if the bus goes to lugo from the airport? See you are a member since 2008 and wonder how much of the Camino
y0u have walked? I dearly want to do it in stages in memory of my dear Dad who passed in March this year. Thanks for your help, Eva la aventurera

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
On the Freire site, you can click the origin box and see the times from the airport -- Labacolla -- to Lugo. There are seven buses each weekday, four on Sunday, and five on Saturday. I have walked it all.

The bus that will suit the Aer Lingus flight arriving fro Dublin is the 16.20 to Lugo. I caught it in July . It arrives outside the main door just behind the bus stop for Santiago. In Lugo its about a 15min wait for the bus to Sarria. Hope this helps.

Your best option is to fly to Santiago (SCQ); its the closest. As pointed out by Falcon, from there you can catch a bus direct (without first going to Santiago bus station) to Lugo and then transfer to a bus to Sarria. See SCQ, Empresa Friere, and Sarria Transportation links.

I have not found direct connections to Sarria from Santiago. Sarria is not a transportation hub; travel is by way of Lugo or Monforte.

Of interest is the link showing a diagram of the train connection Sarria to Santiago.
