Without doubt. And the sooner the better - which may be anytime from 12 to 4 weeks before travel depending on the operator’s whim. Long distance trains in Spain a) frequently sell-out and b) get more expensive as departure day approaches.

Don't cut yourself short on time though. I usually spend the night in Madrid and catch my train the next day. There is only one direct train per day from Madrid. The others require a transfer. Even the direct train went part of the journey by bus last time I rode due to extensive track works.
