Train/bus from Biarritz to St. Jean Pied de Port

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hello Dawn,

This is the link that was recommended some time ago and that I have been using.

http://www.ter-sncf.com/aquitaine/

The train I believe is from Bayonne to St Jean Pied de Port. If I remember well, there are five a day, at 8:5, 12:26, 15:05, 18:10, and 21:03 [just checked my own travel plans].

We'll be dropping a car at the airport of Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne and will have to find a bus to Bayonne and the train station.

Wish you all of Saint-James' help on your Camino,

Buen Camino, claire

Hello,

can someone explain me the route from Biarritz to SJPP? From my understanding, I have to take a bus from airport to Bayonne station, from there I have to go to Combo les Bains by train where I have to take a bus to SJPP, correct? I see, that connection time in Combo les Bains will be 5 minutes, is it enough?? And. In Bayonne station I have to buy a ticket to SJPP or just to Combo les Bains?

Thank you :)

Gretuka,

From Biarritz take the bus to Bayonne station. You catch the bus right outside the airport and then take the direct train from Bayonne to SJPdP. trains leave at 7:45 11:10, 14:56 and 18:06 and take about 1 hour and 20 minutes. You can buy the tickets at the station.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Thank you very much for your answer.
Can you tell me where you found these departure times?

Yes, this is where I was looking and I don't see direct trains, just with a change in Combo les Bains. So I am wondering if it is enough those 5 minutes to change train to bus and if I miss that one can I take next bus with same ticket...

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Take Chronoplus urban bus 14 to Gare Bayonne. Take SNCF TER Aquitaine #62 from Gare Bayonne to SJPdP. The TER service currently consists of train to Cambo les Bains where you transfer to a bus. The bus waits for the train (its a replacement service due to tracks being washed out) so don't worry about the time of transfer. You buy one ticket for the trip from Bayonne to SJPdP.

It is also possible to take Chronoplus bus C to Gare Biarritz and SNCF train to Gare Bayonne. This is faster if train schedules work in your favor.

Alternatively Transports64 offers bus service (811) from Gare Bayonne to St Palais and (810) from St Palais to SJPdP.

If you are really short on time consider taking taxi from airport to Cambo les Bains.

There is private hire taxi service offered by Express Bourricot based in SJPdP and specializing in pilgrim services if none of the public transportation works out.
