Tips for Bilbao to Santander

Hi everyone, we did the route from Hendaye to Bilbao last year and absolutely loved it. Will be picking back up from Bilbao later this week to walk up to Santander. Could you share any tips and recommendations please for this stretch? Would be much appreciated

The best thing I did was take the boat from Bilbao to Portugalete!

We were just there this spring. A couple of things come to mind:

Don't miss seeing the hanging bridge in Portugalete.

Be sure to take the coastal variant between Galizano and Santander. It's beautiful and not too hard.

If you have time after arriving in Santander, take a bus or taxi on to Santillana del Mar and visit the Museo Altamira just 2 km south of Santillana. The cave drawings will blow your mind. Buen Camino
