How low must tides be to prevent boat crossings from caminha to A Guarda?

Most of the boats that ferry pilgrims are the small fishing boats. The big ferry hasn't operated for years and probably won't for the forseeable future. We crossed the first time with Xacobeo Transfer https://xacobeotransfer.com/en/home/. We crossed the second trip with a small boat just where the path ends at the river before going into Caminha. Don't remember his name but he's just after you pass the camping on the left. It was much easier and faster than Xacobeo.1715779911583.jpeg

😆Ok, I am not the only one...
I was a tidal expert last week before the Caminha to A Guarda crossing last Wednesday. Booked https://xacobeotransfer.com/en/home/ in advance, was given no prior warning of an impending low tide impacting the scheduled crossing. Upon arrival, after questioning those at the peer, was told the xacobeotransfer ferry would not cross due to low tide. Fortunately, a twinned taxi boat service, with a smaller keel carried us across using the same ticket.

So turn up at least 20 minutes in advance and ask questions immediately if you do not see the ferry.

Note: it appears the sandbanks 100 meters off the peer restricted the crossing, so water depth at the peer may provide a false perception. Guessing you require a minimum of 2.5 meters of water at the peer for the large boats to safely cross the sandbanks off the peer.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
There is a bar right next to the ferry dock that will sell you a ticket to cross in a small private boat for about 4 euros. I've done it twice with no hassles at all.
Please put prices in context, are these 2024 prices. Note: one of the ferry operators near the main peer was quoting 10 euro last week.

Hello, Has anyone stayed in the Convent Monumento San Benito in A Guarda? It is pricey but looks interesting - worth a splurge?
